Last spring I ordered my turkeys. The person from whom I ordered them told me they would be bronze turkeys, but not broad breasted. Didn't matter, I wanted turkeys and ordered them.
Now, lately, I've been hearing much about Heritage turkeys, and thought next year I might try raising them - thinking it was a different species. As I read more about Heritage turkeys it appears as though they aren't a specific breed, but instead nearly any breed that meets certain criteria, such as being able to reproduce.
If I'm understanding all of this correctly, bronze, boubon, royal palm, and others are all Heritage turkeys, or am I wrong? Did I unknowingly raise Heritage turkeys?
I'm just a little confused by the title Heritage turkey.
