Confused after Vet visit

I work as a technician and although we only deal with cats and dogs, i know Any one of my vets would look at that and know its an infection. Betagen is a fine typical antibiotic spray, but given the location i would assume it would be a poor option since it would come off via swimming or walking. Soaking the foot in it for awhile each day would be a little better, than maybe wrapping the foot and avoiding wetness...
