I’ve had these hens for six months now, and they were adults when I Got them. I’ve looked at various pictures to identify their breed by myself..I thought they were comets. But recently I saw something that made me think otherwise. Can you experts weigh in so I can finally know, and better understand their life expectancy, etc? They are great layers, disposition, etc. thanks! Oh, I’m only referring to my brown and white ones...:)

the brown ones are ISA browns, they are good layers but only live 2-3 years
and im pretty sure that the white ones are leghorns they are VERY good egg layers and they live 4-6 years

I think they are comets or another production hybrid cross of which there are many variations.

Cute birds!!!:love:love:love

Ok, I was confused between the comet or ISA brown...but but only live a few years...which is the main reason we added to our flock now, since I figured, with the molt, and still laying through winter, they must be around 1-1 1/2 years. So, I wanted overlapping breeds, as I’m sure most of you do..thanks for the help.. I suppose I was on the right track! :)

Golden Comet, Isa Brown... Basically they're all versions of the same thing. Your birds are Red Sex Links.

Agreed 100%. Red Sexlinks. They go by many names depending on the hatchery they came from. They can live normal lifespans, up to 10ish years. But typically stop laying between 2 and 3 years old.
