confused chook

Here is a link that explains sex reversals in chickens. It's probably not the case with your chicken, but I thought you might find it interesting and there's an explanation of some of the physical differences between the two sexes.

Thanks sunny chooks

Its nice to read a credible article on that topic.

Is there any way to be a %100 accuarate as to what gender the confused one is?

So far on this thread

I have had one vote for a rooster

One vote for a hen

& One vote for a rex reversal/hen with male characteristics.

Any more votes or comments anyone?

Can hens crow?

Any one ever seen a bigger chicken egg ?

I think it is a hen with some roo characteristics... I see not saddle feathers and the body looks female. I have a BA that has a huge comb and wattles that looks rooish like yours in the face...she lays faithfully 6 days per week. LOL

Hens can crow...but it is not an every day occurrence.

I have one that growls at the dog so...why not a crow...

I have a 2 year old RIR hen that makes (broken rooster-sounding) crowing noises several times a week. The other morning I heard my RIR which was followed by a similar sound from an 11 week old EE that's supposed to be a girl and now I'm getting confused if my fake rooster RIR was instigating what's actually a real rooster, or if I have an EE pullet that's imitating the fake crow. Argh.
