Hi so I'm really unsure if to believe what I'm hearing my family sells our chicken eggs to local friends that live near us and today someone said to us that they cracked an egg open and they're was a chick there we said to her that's not possible because we have no rooster so the eggs arnt fertile she said it had an awful smell we fault that maybe she just got a bad eggs but is it possible for 1 of our 4 hens to lay a fertile eggs ?????

No rooster means no fertile eggs. However, at times hens can produce a funky egg that contains other material that looks like a partially formed chick. You'll see this in young pullets whose egg-makers are working out the kinks and in older hens whose egg-making parts are wearing out. In certain cases, hens who lay these kinds of eggs on a routine basis are fighting an infection.

Thankyou for your quick reply :)
