Confused: Maran Question

Bought chicks 3 days old, guy said Marans. Thats it just Marans. Im thinking I have, but not sure a Blue maran, legs darkish gray to slate, under feet light color (I think) should go walk out and look in bit. And I have a Splash Maran, I think.

Ive been talking to a hatery lady and she asked me if my Marans have clean legs, they both do. She said Marans are known to have feathered shanks, but can be clean...making it sound like most are feathered. Im so lost.

Any input? Ive posted there pictures all over on BYC..and Ive gotten:

Can some one tell me on there legs, under feet, there combs (hen)...there eye color...thanks...

What kind of Marans are they? Most of my Cuckoos have clean legs......but my wheaten all have feathered legs.

Thats just it!!! Im new to chickens and have been trying to find out for WKS!!! Ive had them 27wks now...the guy who sold them to me...doesnt really know, his chickens were all mixed up...I do not believe he had any orps...Im not sure. like I said Im new. and he cant tell me. Other than awwwh, it doesnt matter, there pretty.

Its driving me nuts now, that Ive learned alittle. He was selling EEs, Marans...I ended up with RIRs, Leghorns, Sex link (I think), a Splash "something"...and a blue "something"...I have pictures....

pictures would definately help. i've got 2 cuckoo marans right now that i bought from a local hatchery last year. the blue variety that you're referring to is most likely the "blue birchen" variety. which is actually pretty rare... so i dunno!

Well if his chickens were "all mixed up" they could be a mix of any of the breeds that he has.

since you don't know what they are - I will just take that splash one off your hands along with the blue one with the red head. Then you won't have to worry no more

I love the eyes on the splash one - very girly. She almost needs some eye lashes or something.

Isn't she beautiful. I love she looks so girlie n her eyes are awesome. They are sweet talk to you. The more talkative ones are the tiny Ee...I call Sunshine, she is the dark black,gold, brown one...Jewels..the reddish with blue, gray, Smokey the light color grayish one,my negrita the darkest of the grays, and Maybelline...my splash...like I said, he said he had no leghorns...ahhh, can you see I ended up with some?

and I was suppose to have production reds...and I believe these are RIRs

Neither have a Marans body shape, I think you just have some pretty crossbreds. What colour eggs do they lay, how do they compare with the Leghorns?
