We just got our first flock of 6 baby chicks almost 4 weeks ago, we have 2 buff Orpington, 2 silver laced wyandotte, and 2 (or so I thought) barred rock. One of my barred rock is starting to get that pattern on her feathers while the other one is just staying black but has white under her face. She is also huge compared to the others. I thought a rooster at first because she is SO loud when I handle her and getting fussy, but no waddles. Comb is coming in but it’s yellow. I’m starting to think maybe she’s a black australorp? In the pictures the barred rock (Millie) in the front and the maybe australorp (poppy) in the back. Any guesses? Also is the dry skin that I’ve been seeing normal? I’ve noticed it since they’ve started getting feathers.

:welcome Almost impossible to give an accurate breed guess due to the coloring of the picture, but one thing is for sure - neither of them are barred rocks. There is also the possibility that they may be cockerels.

I got them from runnings. Do they usually mix up chicks there? And ok I’ll try to get a better picture

Here are some more pictures. First and last picture are the smaller chick and the other 3 are the larger one that I’m unsure about. Also is the dry skin normal? They have a few bald spots under their wings I notice... but I checked them for lice and mites but no sign. Just losing all that fuzz
