Lots of prayers and trust in the design of this process.I agree. It's really difficult to see internal pips when they get their first breath of air. It can take several hours for them to externally pip. Good luck and have fun...
So much of hatching is a total judgement call. I’m pretty hands on, but where I’m not hands on is the beginning of the hatch. I’m nice you start assisting things, you have lots of assisting to do. Helping one early often sacrifices the others. Not to say you’ll lose them, but you’ll have to be hands on for each once you start opening that incubator.Wow sooo helpful! Thanks a lot! I. My mallard is already pipped and the other 3 haven't so my concern was whether or not i needed to start the clock on what I have read about them being internally pipped but unable to externally pip after a certain amount of time running risk of suffocation...eek!! So would you say not to worry about that?
Thank you. One other thing: i noticed one of my eggs in a puddle of condensation. Will that warrant a quick open of the bator? Thoughts on that?So much of hatching is a total judgement call. If the mallard is pipped that’s progress and for now all is good. once my first pip occurs I’m done checking. As long as something is pipped, there’s no “checking” for me. Once the mallard has fully hatched if there’s nothing going on, I would check again. If the mallard hatched and there’s a pip elsewhere, I would not check.
I mean I would probably. That’s why I mentioned judgement call. You just want to know what you’re getting into.Thank you. One other thing: i noticed one of my eggs in a puddle of condensation. Will that warrant a quick open of the bator? Thoughts on that?
Yes!!! I def have a spray bottle what a great idea if need be! Love that and thank you!! I am at 72% humidity and 99.5 degress F. You think that is okay for welsh harlequin, cayuga, white crested? The mallard seems to like it but its day 28 the others are rocking but i don't hear a knockin...yetI mean I would probably. That’s why I mentioned judgement call. Do you have a spray bottle? My favorite thing to do for a necessary quick open is crack the lid and spray the lid. If you’re quick you may get just a 1% drop. It will start spiking from the mist, and that’s when you can go in and grab what you need!
Yes ducks like that 70% range I think. Ive only hatched ducks once, so I’m just repeating what I found with humidity, I really don’t have too much experience there.Yes!!! Cool!! If they rock their shell so much that they roll over to their not so optimal position should i quickly put them back to where they were or should i let nature do its thing still.Yes ducks like that 70% range I think.
