Ok I have 2 week old female goslings. Am not breeding but they will lay eggs. So they are currently on Mazuri starter feed. Read that I should keep on starter for 8 weeks. But when I researched layer feed and maintenance feed, they say to give when 6 months old. I realize you slowly transition, but for how long? So is maintenance the right feed or Mazuri layer being that they are females. Can I give them oyster shell for calcium if on maintenance? Mazuri starter is 20% protein. Maintenance drops to 14%. I would think goslings at 2 months still need a higher protein than 14%. Any one experienced with Mazuri feed information appreciated!

I generally feed goslings an all flock starter for 2-3 weeks, than switch them to an all flock ration. The majority of the diet should be grass after the first few weeks. I never feed a layer. Just add oyster shells next spring when she starts to lay.

I should add you don't want them growing too quickly as they can end up with leg and wing problems. Both my starter, and maintenance ration is 18% protein and are formulated for waterfowl.
