Hi all
I live in England and have had hens for 5years. The first flock we had were fab, but then lost some to foxes. Then we bought an enclosed fox proof run (they're only in this during dark hours, they have a huge electrified pen for the day) we then lost a couple to having a red mite infestation. We burnt the house etc. and started again (birds were demited weekly and came back well) we then had a problem with a bullying hen, we have her to a friend, things seemed good...
Then we seem to be loosing hens, they bloat (slowly), 1st one couldn't feel an egg and she died quickly. 2nd one we thought we could feel an egg, so treated for egg bound, but she died a few days ago. Now my favourite hen seemed poorly, she seems a little bloated. Last night I got there, she looked like she was going to die, so I separated her, and there had been some sort of commotion as one chicken was missing a lot of feathers and they were all over the place. What an earth is going on?!
