we always thought we had a rooster and a chicken, but all of a sudden today our chicken started crowing with the rooster. The question is, is our chicken really a chicken? Or she is a he? I’m very much confused, lol. replies are very much appreciated!! Here are some pictures of the hen and a little close up.

Both are chickens. The question is whether this one is also a rooster or cockerel.

BTW, chicken refers to both hen and rooster. Pullet/hen = female, cockerel/rooster = male.

What age? The golden leakage and the fact that it was crowing makes me think cockerel.

“Chicken” is a term used to refer to both sexes.
A rooster is only male chickens.
A hen is only female chickens.
