They could be cross breds or totally the wrong breed. Hatcheries are good for sending you the wrong chicks..And IF they come from Hatchery Stock birds, Who knows What genetics they have in them. One time I bought some E. E. chicks for daughter from the Pet Store, here in Idaho. She thought all were E. E.s, until we got home. 1 lacked the green legs, and Puffy chicks that they are Suppose to have. Still could be an E. E. because its hatchery stock...... But after looking up Breeds on the net, I also thought possibly Brown Leghorn, or Welsummer. As "Mystery" grew, her coloring was coming out wrong for either B. Leghorn and the Wels.. She was a B. Leghorn looking chick, that was coming out looking like a dark New Hampshire.. Finally got figured out that she was a Production Red.. aka a RIR-N. Hampshire X with most likely some B. Leghorn thrown in some where.. Mystery came from Privette Hatchery, so I ran through their List of birds.. It still took me a while, but finally got Mystery figured out.
BTW: Production Red Chicks are suppose to look similar to RIR and N. H. chicks..Not like a B Leghorn chick.
The Dominic could actually be a Barred Rock..I know that they are suppose to lay light brown eggs.. but the one I had, layed really pale, almost white eggs. And I think there are a couple of other 'barred" breeds out there.
The Blk Maran could a Spanish.. something..?? I noticed it had White ear lobs..I dont think the Marans have White Ear lobs..but not sure..
