This lake I go to, there was a lone goose with goslings back in late june. A couple weeks later she had found a new mated her mate that she found had gotten another mate somehow. So that gander was with her and the new mate and goslings the whole summer, until one day it was raining just a couple days ago, they had left for a week and then the gander came back with the goose (the goose without goslings) and a few other pairs.
That same day the other goose with the goslings landed at the lake where they were at. They were acting crazy, talking to each other, and fighting. Then a couple days later we noticed the goose with goslings has a whole other mate and he was the one that was fighting all of them and going crazy that day.. and to this day, the new gander and the goose with goslings are inseparable and won't leave each other's side. So we're kind of confused with this whole situation..

It's best just to enjoy them and not try to figure out why they do this or that. The dynamics of water fowl is complicated to us. They will eventually work it out. :)

Well I like to learn new stuff about them because I been going to this lake feeding them since June and gotten to know each family there so the one goose that didn't have a mate at first seemed to of found one but then this other goose popped up and they were always with each other so it was like he had 2 mates. And then out of the blue they became separate one day then that whole drama went down, that's when we realized she was with a whole other mate and her old mate is still with that other goose that popped up before.
