Confusing feather growth

That is what I am wondering too...some reading I found tonight said females develop tail feathers sooner than males - I wonder if that is accurate?

Not reliably. It can happen either way.

I know my more meatier breeds like the Bresse tend to grow muscles before full feathers. Almost all my month old built males right now have barely any tail feathers

Seems way too early (but that is quite the comb for that first one). I posted pictures of my chickens on here at I want to say 8 weeks, and one of the ones called a hen by everyone turned out to be a rooster. To be fair, one of my roosters was obvious, and the other one did a sneak attack and didn't start growing a comb until about 12 weeks. Second rooster came out of no where.

Yes, the red light is no help at all. There really is nothing to do but wait!
