Hi all,

About a week ago I hatched out what I thought was a parasitic twin chick, now I'm thinking it's a conjoined twin. The chick has the lower end of a second chick growing out of it's chest, complete with 2 legs and a wing. I had to amputate one leg yesterday at the joint, but otherwise it's a happy, healthy, growing baby chick. It's third wing is feathering out.
.. Now here's the weird part... It had what looked like food stuck to it's chest (which happens to be the 2nd chicks butt) so I started to pick it off and it pooped! It has 2 functioning vents! Has anyone anywhere seen this?! I've contacted a poultry research place, but no one seems to want to even call me back with info. I wish I could add photos, but I don't seem to know how! I have them posted on my Facebook page if you would like to see. www.facebook.com/mandyschickinn

Wow, that's is so odd! I have never seen anything like it! Pretty neat if you ask me! I hope you'll keep us updated as it grows. I'm very curious to see how it turns out :)

Wow! That is amazing! I can't believe no one would want to study him. Maybe if it is a hen she will lay two eggs a day!

That is weird and awesome at the same time! I've never seen anything like that! Closest I've come is twin chicks froma double yold egg, and two embryos on the same yolk that never hatched...read they could join together and something like this could happen. Maybe two embryos joined? I dunno, but that is a cool little chick!
Keep us updated, that's really cool!

Try again to post your photos here on BYC, please. It's simple.

Open a Reply window. Up at the top are tool bars. Look for the one with the smiley face. At the left side of that bar is an icon with a mountain and moon. Click on that.

A window opens that says "Embed image". Click on "upload files". That will take you into your computer and you select the file that has your photos in it. To add more than one pic, depress your command key while selecting as many as you like. Select the size you want it to be. Medium is most useful. Then hit "submit".

I for one dislike Facebook immensely and will not go there. So please try again to post the pics!
