HI! Everyone!

I am still working on starting my mini farm. I have a couple of questions:

Is there such a thing as a Orpington Bantum?
If there is are the cold hardly enough to live in SW CT?

My husband want to build a chicken tractor and coop. I want to buy pre-made coop. Which would be the better route? build or buy?

Thanks, and Happy 4th of July.... Happy Birthday USA!

Happy Birthday Tina!!!!! May your year be filled with peace, love, joy, health, and many blessings!!!

Yes, and I find that bantams are pretty tough.

You get allot more for your money when you build and you can get exactly what you want. You just have to do allot more research to get it right or you might build in operational flaws because you haven't any experience yet.

Question - my chicks are now out in their coop full time, and have spent three nights out there. However they're not going into the coop at night themselves! I have a tractor style coop, with a ramp from the fenced run on the bottom into the coop on top. I turn a light on in the coop as the nightime approaches, but still have to catch and/or chase them up the ramp to get them into the coop at night so I can lock them in safely. If I don't they just settle into a big feathered lump in one corner of the run. Any tricks on getting them to go willingly into the coop at night? Chasing them in, in the twilight, on my hands and knees leaning into the run (without hitting my head on the coop overhead) is getting old really really fast!
