Awww..I wish you were ready now! From what I understand, BethG lives fairly close by to you and I know she'd take one home from the show for you. Beth actually bought two buff boys from me. She got first pick, but I still have some cuties to sell.

It was like the calvary arrived when the CL&P trucks showed up! Our guys came all the way from CO...a long 6 days without power. Thinking a little, local chicken party might be in order before winter sets in. Traveled today to the coffee roaster. 38 miles, 1 hr travel time times 2, for a truckload of free chaff and burlap bags. Figure the trip cost at least $20 in gas, and 2 hrs of time. Don't know that it's worth it for me, but ideal for someone closer to Plainville, CT.

I think we had the same crew

Plainsville is a schlep. The chaff goes a long way, so depending on how big your coop is you might not need to go again for a long time. That amount would set me up for more than a year.

I'm having so much fun today hatching some chicks from my pet quality silkies for a friend! I have a buff roo and a bunch of odd colored hens. The first baby to hatch is a pretty silver color...and has five toes on each foot and a vaulted skull! I can't believe how adorable she is! I'm so excited to see what other colors hatch. I'm secretly hoping that I get a couple extra that hatch so I can pick two to keep.

I'll take pictures of them when they are dried off to share with you all. I LOVE to hatch my beauties from my SQ flock, but it is a fun feeling having no idea what you are going to get with these guys.
