Hi everyone! I have a lavender ameraucana roo(27 weeks old) that I had been hoping to keep. I am able to pet him but, he went after my 4 year old

. So needless to say he needs a new home or he is going to freezer camp. If you're interested or have any questions PM me. Here is a pic.

Is broodiness seasonal? I just assumed it was something that could happen in the Spring or Summer, but I'm starting to see the "signs" again! Bobby just hatched her chicks 15 weeks ago but she's acting like she might be thinking about it again.

She has defiantly gone ROBO-BROODY!

What can i do? If I let her sit on eggs again and give the chicks away will she be psycho bummed? I just can't have more chickens yet. Does anyone need to rent a broody?

I'm hoping she starts laying again soon. Everyone loves her teeny tiny white eggs. We lost one of the 4 babies but the three remaining are doing quite well and are the friendliest chickens we have.

I tried SO HARD to break her of it last time and finally let her hatch when I was getting concerned for her health. She is very determined and I'm afraid that if I don't let her sit i'm just putting off the inevitable.

Bantie Cochins are always broody

I can use some extra body heat to hatch out a couple of Araucana eggs if you want. I'm always in need of araucana's for my breeding program

Will she snap out of it if she hatches and the chicks go away right away?

SooooOOOO CT Peeps................. I came home this evening from the farmstand to find a chicken hawk had broken through my aviary netting ontop of my Araucana pen and was stuck inside bouncing off the inside of the coop stuck. At first I thought b/c it was dusk my araucana pullet of same coloring was going crazy and acting weird!

Then it hit me when I walked in the pen!!!!!!!!!!! Those Big hooks on it's claws and hooked beak were not my pullet as it flew right at my HEAD!!!

I ran out shut the door and called my DH. He came running when he heard me scream and so did the dogs. My husband grabbed welding gloves and a blanket and grabbed the hawk. He walked all the way to the end of our driveway and released it in the swamp. He said it was a baby chicken hawk and it look as though it had the scare of its life! I said NO NO, my araucana chickens huddled up in the Coop were the ones with the scare of their life!!!!
