we hatch with a sportmans incubator with our orps we hatch from day 1-18 humidty around 35-40 an lock down we do around 55.we found from talking to beth you are much better going with a lower humidity when hatching.we used to do like 70 an you will get leg isues an some will drowned also they never dry off in there.so now we do 45-55 to hatch it will start to go up 2 when they start to hatch so if you do like 70 like alot of people say when they start to hatch it will jump to 85 fast.we have found with turkeys an peachicks they do need a little higher humidity.but all an all dont get to crazy about it we have hatch chicks anywhere from 25-90% humidity lol.good luck an enjoy hatching we love to hatch.
Hey CT peeps! I haven't been doing too much posting lately, school is in full swing and knocked the breath out of me for a few weeks! Lolany way, I am attempting to make my own incubator out of an old styrofoam cooler and I am accumulating information about hatching! I am very confused about one aspect though - what is the ideal humidity? I'm pretty sure I have looked at every post on here and they all differ. However, the one tid-bit that I did manage to pick up was that it depends on where you live. So, what finer place to turn than the awesome CT peeps? If any of you guys have any advice as to what humidity to use/ strive for, it would be MUCH appreciated. My incubator will be a forced air with a thermostat, if that helps at all. Thanks so much!![]()
