You might check with Chicken Danz (north east) or Chookschick (Lawrence area). They are both downsizing and might have a good boy or two. Of course it would mean a trip. There was also someone else trying to rehome a rooster on here (I think in this forum) just a few posts ago. I looked it up, it was zigzag45. Said they were posting on Craigslist
I lost my one and only rooster not too long ago - assuming to a coyote (I have been seeing them around a lot for the past few weeks when he and some other girls went missing.) I'm on the lookout for a nice rooster if anyone knows anyone giving one away. I am in Winfield. He'll have his own flock of lonely girls to enjoy! Also, my chickens free range and are not locked up except at night.

Those places are all really far from me.. but thanks for the suggestion :)

I'm not going to be on for about a week. I'm really busy with getting my chickens and dogs ready for the fair :) I will upload some photos after it and I hale to see some of you there

I have found a rooster :) I gave a friend a dozen hatching eggs awhile back in early spring and she is going to give me one of her roosters that is an offspring of my rooster I lost! How cool is that :) I will pick him up Saturday morning.. Thank you everyone for your help..

Ahhh, I just PM'd you before I saw this. Glad you found one... need another? :)

When my rooster died this summer, I gathered up every egg that could possibly be fertile, borrowed an incubator, and took a shot at hatching a "lil' Butch." I ended up with only 2 chicks (partly my fault for temperature, partly the fault of weak eggs I think). One of them is looking like a cockerel.

I have renamed him Jake (Lil' Butch just doesn't work for him) and am working on calming him down. Dad was a very gentle EE and mom is a completly hysterical EE, and ChooksChick (from whom I got the original Butch) says to hold him and talk to him every day, so I'm on a mission.

How cool that we can have an offspring of the original Roo for the flock. (I'll not think about the completely Oedipus thing going with his mother)

Thanks Ralph. I can not find where it says food grade but it does talk about using it around animals and on pet bedding. It does not say anything about swimming pools. The ingredients are: Silicon Dioxide, from Diatinaceous Earth 85%, Other Element Oxides, 10%, and Moisture, 5%.

Where do you get yours from and what is the brand?

thanks again.

I get mine at a feed store in Neosho, Missouri. I think it is called Southside Feed, but I'm not sure. I buy a 50 pound sack and it goes a long ways. I use it as a wormer for every thing. Even house cats. It has been over a year since I bought a sack, but I think it was $27.00 for a 50 pound sack. They had 5 pound sacks, but it was $10.00 a bag. They have a swap meet on the second Saturday of every warm month so it sort of justifies my trip.

Holy cow... life has been busy the last 2 days. I had to leave town unexpectedly and just got back in town a couple of hours ago. I will catch up on posts tomorrow.

I have an issue with 2 of my Ancona ducks. They were having problem getting up and walk. I noticed this issue when I went to check on them as soon as I got back in town. DH claimed that they were fine this morning.:/ No telling if they started having this problem as soon as I left or not. 1 is more severe than the other. When I tried to get a hold of the more severe one, she tried frantically to push herself away with her legs, dragging her belly on the ground. I read on the ducks forum that this could be caused by Niacin deficiency. I could use some help from the duck experts....I went ahead and bought some Brewer's Yeast so in case it is Niacin deficiency, I can sprinkle it on their food. Talking about food, I feed them All Flocks since I have a mix of hens, roosters and ducks of various ages.

I'm really worried about the ducks so if you can give me some help in diagnosing the issue, I would really appreciate it.
