Consolidated Kansas

So, I demonstrated my natural "grace" today.

I went to crawl through the barbed wire fence and ended up falling into it instead. Thankfully, it wasn't electric.

I also only ended up with one scratch. Could've been a lot worse. It was a beautiful day today, and I got to sit out and enjoy it for a while. Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous here as well!
Yikes! I assume Ethan wasn't on you at the time!

Merry Belated Christmas to everyone!! We are in Maine visiting family so I haven't had a chance to get on here long enough to catch up. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

No, he wasn't. He was inside with his Daddy, safe and sound. I wouldn't have been crawling through the fence if I had had him with me. Him and I together don't fit through the fence very well, and it is hard to bend over with him on my chest.

Phew! I have stumbled a few times out side with the baby on me and it always scares the daylights out of me! Glad you are ok! It is easier when they have better head control and you can wear them on your back. If you are interested in a woven wrap still I found a DIY group on FB that makes shorties and ring slings out of woven table cloths. I am going to try one for my sister that is having a baby this spring!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! just popping in for a quick read before I head back in to work.

My staff got me a chicken Christmas card so I guess they know I like chickens.

I also got a coffee maker so now I can make individual cup of coffee instead of waiting half a pot of it in the morning. I'm the only in the house who drinks coffee. I didn't get the Keurig. I asked for a regular coffee maker so I don't have to keep buying those K cups. I heard that they are expensive! I do like that they have quite a few varieties but then again, I really don't want to pay that much for a cup of coffee.

My GP - Sky - is fine. She is still wearing the cone of shame. I've to take her back to the vet to get her staples out next Tuesday so until then, she will have to stay in the mud room with her cone. She is getting very comfortable in the mud room though. I hope she doesn't have any problem transitioning back to the outside world after next week's appt. The root cause of her issue was she has a very itchy skin. So much so that she was constantly scratching herself and she just ripped the stitches out because of it. My vet said because of the Coccidia (sp?) parasite and her vigorous growth (she is going to be a big dog), her immune system was in overdrive mode hence causing her to itch and scratch constantly. They gave her a steroid shot to calm her system down and meds to kill the parasite after the 2nd surgery so now she is very content. Her itching is almost non-existant at this point. I'm glad she is now comfortable. I was so worried about her.

Danz - You are always so busy... a second Christmas dinner on Saturday? Wow... I don't think I can do that. Granted... I didn't have to cook for Christmas but I did for Thanksgiving. That's a lot of work and I love to cook!

Hechicken and Trish - I bet you are enjoying the warmer weather. I do when I get a chance to see the outside of my office... LOL. My husband has been taking care of the birds for me since I work long hours daily. I did ask him if the birds are enjoying the compost he dumped in their pen and he said yes. I will need to go out and see them on Saturday so I know they are doing OK. Plus Saturday is warm and Sunday we are back to freezing temperature again.

Lizzy - I'm glad you are OK. I can just picture my clumsy self doing just that. There is nothing graceful about me when I'm out and about... LOL.

Btinkerbell - Welcome to our board. What kind of chicks are you looking for? Most of us don't hatch or have baby chicks this time of the year but we have quite a few people who hatch tons of babies in the Spring though. Tell us more about your coop and your chickens, if you have any.

Josie - How is Maine? My husband lived in Banglor for about 6 months and he said it was Coldddddd... How's Amelia? Hope she is having fun with aunts and grandma.

Speaking of eggs... I don't wash mine either unless they are too dirty. But I do wash and clean them if I sell them to other people. I do eat the frozen/cracked eggs... I don't think it will hurt me since I either fried them or bake them in the cakes, breads, or muffins.

Enjoy the day, everyone.

I currently do not have any Chickens at this moment. I know most people hatch in the spring but I was looking for some that might be about 6 mo old. Ones that are still young but yet not in the baby stage. I have a Run that is 5 feet wide and 9 feet long. The coop is and old 6'x6' Shed that was once a Huge dog house that we build nesting boxes for it and perches. I'm very much new to this and would love any help that people want to offer.

Lots of knowledge on this thread. Maybe we can help you narrow down a bit--are you looking for meat chickens, egg layers, fluffy balls to love as pets, Pretty feather colors, pretty egg colors, and what size are you looking for?

If you want larger brown eggs you might want to consider Barred Rocks. They're good layers & produce large eggs. Most people would have sold off any extra birds in the fall before winter got here. You might want to check out our Kansas Poultry Swap on Facebook if you're on there.
