Consolidated Kansas

All I can think when I look at that is how much they had to clean before the took the picture. The chicks dust would be insane. I know..... I deal with it all the time.

Danz & Ralph,

Just showed the chicken palace to DH and he looked it over

very stoicly, read my initial comments about him counting his blessings and quietly remarked,

"They have a cleaning lady." and went back to his laptop.

LOL!

You just can't ruffle the feathers of a test pilot! I Thank God everyday for that attribute in this houseful of teenagers!

You guys crack me up! Deerfield I'm glad your procedure went well, I hope it helps you feel better.

Yeah that fancy coop would never work around here either, it would be filthy in a day. Let's not talk about chick dust, whew. I hatched a bunch of chicks the last couple of days & it's flying around here. I had ducklings hatching today, those are the cutest things ever. I have the lone gosling in with the baby ducklings in their own brooder in the garage & that thing is a monster compared to those little babies. He's growing like a weed! Danz if your lone gosling ends up being a girl I need her for a partner for my boy. He got way too big to be in with the tiny newly hatched chicks so he had to go out of the chick brooder.

I was back & forth today with this weather, we were supposed to have a storm here & we got nothing but a few sprinkles. We need rain so bad, somebody better start doing a rain dance. My yard is so dry that the chickens have been doing dust baths all over the place. I went out early to put the goats & sheep in because I had a notice there was a storm & then had to put them back out again because nothing happened. I didn't want them to be stuck out in a storm getting pelted with hail but it went around us again. The hail I don't mind going around but we sure could have used some rain.

Me too. Those chicks have been in my craft room for several days and everything is covered with dust. Everything, okay, not me, but everything else.

MsDebD, You have given me a vision of EE chickens rolling down the highway peering out the windows of the Partridge Family Bus! I admit, I'm a dork and easily amused. I think I would do some fancy painting inside my coop, if it would increase fertility and inspire one of the girls to get off the nest! I really want her eggs. I might even go so far as to get them a Futon! LOL! If you do paint that coop, I want to see it -- that would be too cool.
We would get along way too well! Getting together would probably be dangerous (but really fun!)

LOL! It's true -- nobody's safe with me!

I deserve all these teens!

And wait a minute... What do you think that old test pilot of mine meant by the cleaning lady crack? What exactly is he trying to say? Darn, he's clever.

Okay, enough of that. Trish44, Thank you for appreciating my nonsense. We also did not get any horrific hail, etc., but we didn't even get enough moisture to wet the pavement either. Somebody better do a rain dance so you can stop dancing with your goats/sheep!

I guess I can plant my tomatoes now.

DH is home today to put in my watering system for the raised beds. Would it be rude if I lit a firecracker in our bedroom? I'm ready to go!

Your so funny, Deerfield.
We got plenty of moisture. It's rained the last two nights. I went crazy trying to clean some yesterday before the feed rep got here yesterday and had mopped the back hallway. I noticed even though he is back in bed that DH didn't bother to take his shoes off until he got back to the bedroom. Muddy prints all through the house! Doesn't do any good to remind him. I've done so for 25 years and there's been no improvement at all. In fact he's probably gotten worse. I had a rug down the back hall but decided it was less practical to have to keep cleaning the rug than to mop the floor. Grrr!
Well I thought I was getting over this cold and now I have gone into a full blown sinus thing. I must have lost weight yesterday just from all the sneezing and blowing I did. It's back this morning. I need a new nose!
I got very little done cause I was waiting on this rep to show up and he was several hours later than I expected him to be. Then he was here a couple hours. I'm afraid I'm not going to get my dealership because I don't have a formal retail space. He said a committee decides on whether you can sell or not. I have plenty of demand for the feed just no formal store front.
It's hatch day again today. I have got to get more birds moved to the building to make room for the new ones.
I am so disgusted. I filed 4 insurance claims yesterday to USPS. Every person said my eggs were packed excellent but they were all scrambled! I doubt they'll pay on them. I only had two boxes that apparently arrived okay. At least I haven't heard from those people yet any way. Disgusting. So that is the end of shipping hatching eggs again. I quit once because of the damage they were doing. I don't know how I am supposed to make money when our sorting center destroys everything they touch.

Going broody much be catching. My other BCM was crammed in the nest box with the first one last night. The first one has quit paying by the second laid her egg yesterday then decided to sit on it. She must have decided that since her BFF was broody she would be too! I'm thinking about putting a couple of eggs under the first one since she's been sitting so good and tight and seeing if she'll hatch them out for me. The second incubator I ordered hasnt sipped yet and I'm having issues with the seller. :rant

Deerfield, glad you're doing ok after your procedure!

Danz, lucky you on the rain!!! It misted a bit here but we haven't gotten anything measurable.

Great news this morning from the Kansas AG Department.

All restrictions for Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Cherokee, and Crawford counties have been lifted, and its states all operations can resume back to normal.

Well, I probably won't be on for a while unless I have a major question. My MIL, who we are very close to, has cancer and it doesn't look good at all. :hit My poor DH is taking it very hard. We're still praying for a miracle tho. I'll drop in it I can tho.
