Consolidated Kansas

Congrats on the processing Deerfield, wow I couldn't do that many birds at once, heck I've been putting off doing two roosters that need to get done because I have to do them by myself. They need to get done though, I'm feeding them & I don't need to be.

I guess we all were griping about all of the rain & now it's hot, I figured that's what would happen. It sure dried out here after it started warming up. I still have a couple places that are boggy by they're in the shade out there.

I put my older goslings out with the adults yesterday & they had fun free ranging. They wanted back into their pen at feeding time but I had to shoo them into the pen with the ducks & big geese because I have 3 little goslings in their pen now & the ducklings I put out yesterday as well. They were just making too big of a mess in the brooder in the garage so I decided to give the goslings some company. The ducklings follow the goslings around like they're the line leaders & they weren't sure what to think of that. If any of you want some ducklings I have several that need homes. They're Anconas & are on the endangered list, that's why I wanted to keep them going.

Just came in for a break and think I will stay. All of us are moving pretty slowly today so we're going to knock off all the work and take it easy. The pool isn't open yet or I would be in it on an air mattress! Next weekend is that little project. Yikes!

Got 3 new kids that were rescued and now I have, but I don't know the breed. They don't look like my PRB. Any thoughts or input?

Can't see the comb but judging from the leg color and the markings I would guess silver laces Wyandottes. If that is the case looks like two cockerels and one pullet.
Trish it's still wet here. Today was great though cause it was super hot and the wind was blowing. We have rain forcast for this evening but if it doesn't come through that would be wonderful. Maybe if this holds out a couple days I can actually use my Bobcat. I'm shopping for a different bucket cause I don't believe the one I have will work well for digging.

Anderson, Silver-laced Wyandottes would be my guess too. Looks like the comb may be a pea comb, rather than the single. Happy New Birdies to you!

Danz, Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the rain will pass you by. Oh I would so love to have a Bobcat! That is the coolest thing ever, I forgot to take a look at it while I was there. Hope you find the bucket you're looking for.

WoW! Have we been slow movers today after all that processing. But here is what my 13 year old DS made for us today. The pound cake was for my birthday strawberry shortcake and he also made real whipped cream. Also today, he and oldest DD picked the cherries from our own tree and made two cherry cobblers. I had a bit while it was still warm and it was heavenly. The strawberry shortcake was too!

So pretty!

Looks yummy! Hope you have a great week!!!

Quote: A chicken is a chicken. The boys could be good eating later. I need to do a bunch of butchering soon. I normally sell most of my boys but I am thinking it might be wise to stock some up. With the AI I am afraid the cost of eggs and chicken is going to get totally ridiculous. It might be nice to have some back up. I don't regret having a couple turkeys in the freezer either. Doesn't look like I'm going to have veggies so I might as well have some meat.
We got pounded again last night with a major storm. I haven't seen any losses yet but I haven't been out checking yet either. We had major rain and wind. I see a few branches down looking out the window and more water sitting. Oh well maybe it was enough water to wash out some of the old stale stuff sitting around here. It' just one more postponement on getting pens moved I guess.
