TNTBlake, I sure hope you get the color of eggs you are wanting from your new EE's! Hmm... Now I'm starting to think an EE would be a great addition to my own little flock. Good grief, but I think I have enough chickens for now! Especially after I pick up my new ones here next week.
Sharol, oh my, Lily is so pretty! I agree, I don't think I've seen a prettier white chicken! She has cute fluffy cheeks and just is adorable looking! I hope her feet will heal for you. Poor thing, I'm sorry about that. You said there are still little scabs in her feet? Are they really small-- could they just be pinched out after you kind of scrape off a bit the top part? And now with winter coming on fast, this is no time to be having bad feet.
Hopefully she'll be just fine. Okay, I want to know what kind of chicken do you have that made your brown egg with spots on it?! That is the coolest egg EVER!! I love that!!!!
Well, it's a preschool morning so I'll have to get the kids around here soon. It is so cooooold. Brrrrr... I'm smacking my forhead for not being able to get my coop finished in 4 months!? Geez, that should be PLENTY of time. I'm so glad we're in the home stretch, though. I just need siding and to finish the inside and I'm good to go! I'll work on details this coming spring. I was going to put on my cute shutters and other things I got for it. But I'm just going to call it good once I can get chickens into it if it's going to stay this cold. I'm thinking of putting my turkey in the barn in one of my horse stalls for the winter until my chickens get big and won't get trampled or killed by her. She's going to need more of a wind break protection. I'll still have to bring her in to sleep in her dog crate at night, though for protection at night. What a mess! But my turkey is a giant compared to my babies. I hope she can't fly over the top of my horse stalls. They are about 7 feet tall.
