We swear by these things - use 'em for everything! But I found the coolest tool in the Garrett Wade catalog. It's a zip tie "gun". Comes with rolls of ties and eyes and you only use as little or as much as you need. I talked my mom into getting DH one for Christmas so I can use it! No more gathering up the tie ends that we cut off all over the place.

Hawkeye, we didn't have a bad year for hey right around here, but it is very scarce because everybody shipped it to sell in texas, oklahoma, and western kansas because they though they could get more (and did). But alot of people around here can't find hay at any price and what they can isn't very good.

I couldn't sleep last night. Guess I worked too hard yesterday and I just was aching too much to sleep. Drat! I should be a pleasant
person today! Good thing no one should be around me.
On the radar for today is finishing my never ending Mandarin pen jobs, putting a latch on the door, filling the pond, checking my plumbing for leaks (Please no leaks!), moving some dead limbs in for them to climb on, hanging the nest boxes, completing the rocks along the bottom, and hopefully getting the birds moved, if the rest gets done and there aren't any leaks.
Then on to battening up the Serama and polish houses and getting some heat lamps out there for them for the night. Closing up the other houses to keep the excess cold out. I still have several shelters I need to build but it isn't going to happen today. I need more shavings for bedding, but the closest place that has them is 40 miles away. It will have to wait I guess.
I hope it warms up again in a few days so I can get a few more projects done. I've felt under the gun for weeks but now I am really stressed to get things done.

I'm soooooooooo going to need one of these! Heck yeah!!

One warning about zip ties. Don't buy the cheapest you can. Some of them are made to stand up to cold temps and others are less expensive. Also try using them when it isn't freezing out. Even the best quality ones will break if it is cold enough and you are trying to tighten them.
I buy the smallest ones to use for leg bands. I use those to separate birds for one thing or other. Very handy and more easily seen than metal leg bands. I also buy all the colors I can find. That way you can mark for different things or in different pairs.

It's supposed to be nicer later this week! So today I hope is just a fluke. But it's pretty nice right now. I'm going to get out there and work while I can before the cold front moves in.

Thanks Bama! I don't think I want to build any more coops, though!! LOL!!! I must have been INSANE to think I could have built this one in just 3 or 4 weeks. Geez.
