I am SW of Topeka about 30 miles.
There are 6 silkies. 4 hens - a white, a splash (I think) a dark - black? frizzle and a lighter gray frizzle. The white and splash both look to be decent quality and gave nice big top knots. The splash can't see from under hers. The frizzles (I was told one was a sizzle?) are smaller and have curly "bad perm type feathers.
The two roos are both black, both obviously crosses, one is frizzle with interesting wind swept feathers.
At least one of the hens has been laying a few eggs.
I have not had them very long, and put them into an open type summer pen, with plans to make a coop for them. A plumbing problem took the coop money. If I get them into the barn, they should be ok for the winter in there. I just have so many things to do to get ready for winter.
I do not know a lot about silkies, but I think that with a nice unrelated roo, this is a nice flock of hens for the blue/black/splash coloring, and with frizzles. Someone that knows more could confirm that.
