Consolidated Kansas

I guess I was in a hurry and not very careful with my numbers.

And I guess you could call me a math nerd for letting it bother me.

Does anyone know what kind of duck this is ? We saw it at Grants farm in St. Louis last week he (?) was really friendly and quite striking .

Looks like a moscovy mix to me. They would be mules. Non fertile.
Well it looks like my ducks will be here until Saturday afternoon. I might decide by then which ones I want to try butchering. That is okay. At least I know there is light at the end of the tunnel and it will be a nice payday even though they are going cheap as a group. Yippee! And I just got a call and someone is coming tomorrow to buy my blue slates turkeys. I am so happy! I sold a pair of Reece New Hamps for the fair last night. Too cheap, but the little girl's chickens had all been killed by a predator. When it comes to kids I just can't be hard about prices. Come to think of it I am never hard about prices. Maybe that is why I am broke!!!
Next week I am going to do testing for 4 H one night. A pain but again it's for the kids. And again what I get won't buy my gas to drive there.
I need to get so much done this week but with all the other things on my agenda and the heat I doubt I'll even get started on all the projects. It sure would be nice if DH was off.
It's going to be really hot and that makes me worry about the birds. Had I had a chance to watch the news I would have frozen some bottles of water last night to keep the birds cool.
Well better get out there and get busy. I want to move some of my older pea chicks to an outside pen today if I can get it moved into a safe place. They'll probably need heat at night but at least there will be fewer in here.

thank you Danz, I have 2 other blues a black the frizzle and a white. It is so hard to sex but I am trying lol.

It is getting hot, I hope everyone is keeping cool as well as your animals, feathered and furred.

Funny story about keeping cool for ya'll! My husband has a 100+ pound chocolate lab that is our guard dog. He has been trained not to cross fence lines without permission, though he will cross them on occasion if there's no one around to give him permission. I have the kiddie pool for my birds set up in an area where the dog can use it as well, though it is currently set up under some trees just inside the barn lot fence (in an area that's fenced off from the horses and where the dog has to cross a fence to get to it from the yard). The dog will get hot enough that he will cross the fence line, almost as if he doesn't even notice it's there. Once he's enjoyed the pool for a bit, he gets out of the pool and starts to head back to the yard. That's when he sees the fence between himself and the yard. He seems perplexed for a while, like "how did that get there?!?!".

Then, he walks up and down the fence looking for a way out. Eventually, he decides to cross the fence without permission. I just find it incredibly funny that he gets himself in there, and then seems perplexed as to how to get himself out!

I have seen him do this several times in the last week and a half since I put the pool there. Quite entertaining! Sometimes, I think I have pets just so their antics can keep me laughing!

I should also mention that this dog is a pretty smart dog (well, usually)....

When my birds went to play in the pool first thing this morning, a squirrel happened to be in the area. You should've seen how much interest that squirrel got from my birds! The birds (ducks and geese together) ended up chasing the squirrel up the closest tree. Ducks/geese chasing squirrels. Now that's not something you see everyday!
