Consolidated Kansas

I Just sprayed the house down inside and out and hope to have some of these critters done in in the next several days. Now if the animals will stay out of it until it is dry we should be in good shape for at least 3 months. I shouldn't have let it go so long. Sometimes I wonder why I have to do all these little household repairs and cares that most men tend to do. If I didn't do it it would never get done. I guess that is why a lot of stuff is never done. I still have walls without sheetrock, lots of painting and lots of flooring work that needs done.
I haven't been out to feed yet cause it is so chilly. I need to scoot my boots and get it done. I did go out and walk around and it appears everyone survived the rain and the cool air so far. I really need to go do some shopping but I also have to meet someone with some ducks later. This cool weather and I don't get along at all. It gives me another excuse to be lazy.
Guess I should stop complaining and get busy.
Trish are those bins available in the store or do they have to be ordered on line. I might want to try a few.

Well I just looked those bins up again and ordered a pack of 6 of them. Shipping was only $3.97 and that beats driving. Hopefully that will give me enough to get started with some of my new groups to breed. If I like them I'll order more. I could probably use at least twice that many. Thanks for the reminder Trish.

I didn't know you could order them, I have had to get them in Derby when I've been able to find them there. Our store here in Winfield hasn't had them for a long time, they only got them in once & never got them again. I bought a couple extra when I found them last & it's a good thing since I have been adding pens lately. I'm glad you found some & the shipping wasn't outrageous.

Chooks---need your assistance please

Frizzled that is a gorgeous rooster!

Arrrgggghhh, I'm so tired already, I did get the breeder coop all freshened up today & got a couple of tarps on the north side of pens. I still have the big one I want to get on the north side of the main run tomorrow. I got both chick brooders in the sun room cleaned out totally today & sanitized & new shavings all put in. The chicks weren't that impressed, but I was glad I got it done. Those lavender Ameraucanas are starting to make quite a mess pretty quickly. I just am not quite ready to put them outside yet after losing the whole bunch the last time to that freaky flash flood. We're going tomorrow morning to get our hay for the goats for the winter. I managed to find some brome for a decent price that isn't far away, so I am happy about that.

Thanks Trish, We think he is handsome too but trying to determine lineage--ie tail is really nice looking but is way high and dark legs not pink so not really sure what all is happening here.
I did not buy him from Chooks but I am hoping she can help me zero in on the genetics here.

Frizzled Pink, don't you have bantam cochins? I talked to a girl today that said she was looking for some. If you have some available send me a PM with your contact information and I'll send it to her.
Trish those bins were hard to find on line. None of the stores near here had them in stock. I ordered blue ones. I figured they would disguise the poop better than red ones. I wish I could have afforded twice that many. I got to thinking after I ordered them they might be just the ticket for putting in the trailer. I guess I'll wait and see if they like them.
Frizzled that is no orpington for sure. Did you buy him as a gold laced orpington? First if he was bred from a BBS orp he would have darker legs but not that dark. Secondly his comb is too big. His tail is too tall and too straight up and down. His body is too slim. To me he looks like a combo of gold laced Wyandotte and Pheonix. He may have some orp blood but it's not readily apparent.

@Sharol--coloring does seem similar but he is too big for welsummer

Danz-will send pm on the cochins

Danz --agree to all your points, thats why trying to figure out what i do have. He is massive in size --like big silver sussex size or exhibition orp size but not as thick/wide
