TaraBella, that's so sad. I get upset when people get animals and have no real understanding of them, and no commitment to taking care of them. Even if they're a creature you're going to process at some point, they still aren't just expendable. I think it's a very good thing they dumped them back at your place. I'll keep my fingers crossed that she pulls through.

Cherwill you are just the sweetest person. You always seem so wise. Just thought I'd let you know your posts always make me smile. I'm so glad I got to meet you that one day when the group met.

I agree cherwill. The person I sold them to did message me to see how they were doing. They are beating themselves up about it, it seems it was a lapse of judgement, which can happen to the best of us! I was a bit put out at having them 'dumped' in my lap but at least I know that she is safe and I am doing everything I can to get her better.

Thank goodness I am off today. I just went out and burried the other bird, and spent some relaxing time with my flock. My numbers are down and I can finally enjoy them as individuals now! Rebal Dottie and her four babies are doing wonderful, nothing is better than watching a broody and chicks! My pullets are growing fast and my Ameraucana, Rocky, is maturing beautifully. I still need to find her a mate if anyone has a Wheaten Ameraucana or Blue Wheaten roo that needs a good home

I brought in some scratch for my injured girl and see ate quite a bit! She is doing a lot of sleeping, but I got some electrolytes down her, so cross your fingers.

She even spent some time grooming what is left of her wing feathers before tucking her head under her wing. I don't know about you but I can't think of a better sign than that, that she is improving!!!!

TaraBella I agree with Danz, if the bird is eating that is a good sign. Usually when they're too sick or injured they don't eat it's a sign they're not going to make it.

I had to make a flying trip 2 1/2 hours away this afternoon & evening to pick up my little Boer goat buckling. He sure is a cutiepie & really tame because he was a bottle baby. I'll try to get some pics of him tomorrow afternoon & post them. He's residing with the sheep tonight until I know how the two older goats are going to do with him. He was a really good boy riding that long coming home, he only bleated for a very short time & then settled right down & was quiet the rest of the way home.

Long time since I've been on here. I built a new coop which the girls love! And one of my 6 mth old bantams decided to go broody. I couldn't believe she wanted to sit on eggs so soon. But after several days of camping out on golfbAlls, I moved her to the maternity ward that I built in the new coop and gave her se eggs. Can't wait to see the chicks! My neighbor who is 8 wants to help me candle them this weekend. And of course this egg hatching has given me chick fever. And thinking about the breeds I wanna get in the spring.

Congrats on your new goat Trish.
OKjenyp, good to see you back. I'm just looking forward to not having a ton of chicks for a little while. If that ever happens!!

Good morning everyone.
Trish, awe post pics of him! My husband would like to get a goat to help with weed control on our property, I am not convinced yet! They sure are cute in other people's yards though

My little patient is doing well this morning. She finished her food and is drinking well. I elevated her food and water last night, she was having trouble bending down, once elevated she did fine. I have to work today so hopefully she does okay while I'm gone.

TaraBella I'm glad your little chick is doing better. I'll try to get some pics of the little buckling later this afternoon. He's kind of getting bullied right now since he is the new kid. (pun intended)

This is Peanut, isn't he a cutie? He's really tame since he was a bottle baby. He got picked on a lot today, which he really couldn't understand because he lived with a larger group of goats where he lived before & now these here are butting him & the ram sheep is challenging him as well. I think the ram is just telling him I'm the leader of this group since he is residing with the sheep at night for now until he gets big enough to defend himself in the goat pen. One of my girls, Penny is just an ornery critter & she is the one causing the problems. She is very territorial & food aggressive as well. I sure hope they will accept him eventually & settle down so they can all reside together. They were all out in the field together today but poor Peanut got run off if he tried to join either group. He's going to have to learn some gumption like the ram lamb has had to.

We were gone much of today since this was shopping day & we had to get the car serviced as well. When I got back I ran out & painted on my breeder coop till time to feed all the critters. I finally got the back done other than where my DH needs to get up on the ladder & paint, under the eaves. I got the 2nd coat on the south side as well so now tomorrow we're going to be working on the front. I hope we can get this done before the weather gets too cold. I was really slapping paint on today to try to hurry & get as much done as I could. We have the front to do with two coats & then the trim.
