How much does the rooster effect egg production of offspring?

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking but I'll try to answer what I think you are asking. If you breed a hen that doesn't lay as many eggs to a rooster from a breed that lays lots of eggs, the offspring will tend to lay more eggs than the hen.
If having a rooster around makes a hen lay more ...no that doesn't happen.
I had a couple of customers this morning and sold some roosters for breeders. Sure makes me happy to know they are going to good homes and won't be dinner. I didn't make much but it's a few less boys around here. It is really miserable hot and humid out there today. I sure hope I don't loose any birds to the heat today.
I had to come in to cool off after the customers left. It's insane out there.
I have to go get another load of feed in the morning. I sure am going through gobs of it these days. More incentive to get some birds sold.
I have a customer coming Sunday that is taking several so that will help.
Wow Trish that's a lot of hay to haul. Too bad the farmer doesn't just load up a flat bed and bring it to you. It's going to be super hot to be moving hay.
I need to get back out there and get busy moving some more stuff. I just don't feel like I can handle this heat very well today.

I had to go let the birds out early because of this heat and found a barred cochin bantam hatchling.
I wonder if mother nature is the true mother to this chick because the coop is about 99.5 lol
Alas after giving it to broody and moving them to the mother and baby coop I spent about an hour using paint stripper on some wheels and was so soaked with sweat that I had to come home. I will bring the birds a watermelon that I have when I go back in an hour.

I killed a bunch of predators and had to bury those bloated guys in the heat wow! i was thinking: please dont explode, please dont explode, please dont explode, while carrying them with a hoe and a shovel.  It's safe to say that I got revenge for the killing of my pure french black copper marans hen.
All signs pointed to oppossum and it was an oppossum, the ground hog was just on his third strike, i moved him twice,  third time is goodnight!

I absolutely hate possoms, they're ugly, nasty critters & they killed & ate almost a whole pen of guineas one time of mine in one night. That was before I got my Great Pyrenees, now they catch them every time they come near, bye bye nasty critter. We also have had a big issue with raccoons here & the dogs usually get those out of here too or tree them & we take care of them.

It's a hot bugger out there today, not looking forward to going out there right now, but I have to, ugh.

I tried misters at one point & the bad thing is that after awhile the water in the hose will heat up so you're just spraying hot water at them, not a good thing.
I found that out a few years back. The birds were avoiding the mist, and I realized it was because the water had gotten too hot. I use a splitter that sends the water to 3 misters, and that seems to keep the water moving enough that it isn't scalding. It helps to elevate the misters so that the water has time to cool before it gets to the birds, too.

I found with the misters that the chickens enjoy that damp ground below them more than they enjoy the actual mist. Of course if your hose isn't laying in the sun that helps a lot.
We've been having tons of possums moving in lately. The females have full pouches so they are feeding babies. My dogs do a great job unless there is a lot of other predator activity out there, but if they are out chasing coons and coyotes they don't hear the possums move in unless a birds squawks. The possums that have made it in have been eating eggs and they have found the cat door on the shop and are going in to eat cat food. Of course at the first sign of noise they are at the mercy of the dogs or a .22 bullet. I wish I could catch them all the first time they come around.
Funny story about the possums though. DH was out in the shop in the wee hours of the morning. A possum happened to enter through the cat door without noticing him. Then he saw him and scurried to the back of the shop. DH grabbed the shotgun and shot him, but some pellets went on by and punctured a can a green spray paint. Result one dead very green painted possum! It was a pretty funny sight.
I am really dreading another hot day. I've got a ton of feed to shovel off soon which sure isn't going to be fun. Nothing like grain sticking to a sweaty body!!!

I lost two birds to heat yesterday and had another hen go down. She is recooperating in a cage in the house. She seems to be enjoying the respite from the heat. I hate to take her back out but it's going to have to happen.
I need to make some pans for the birds to stand in during this super heat. I just hate to have to pick them up and dump them all. Outside it's not so bad but in the building it would be a pain.

Well, i just got back from Texas Me, my sister, and my youngest older brother left the 22nd and got back the 24th. It was not a fun trip. We were able to visit my ggrandmother in the hospital and she was awake and talked to us. We were very blessed to be able to share that time with her and have her lucid for it. She was placed on hospice on the 24th. Both lungs and her diaphragm are paralyzed. My aunt called yesterday and said she was taken off of everything but oxygen which really bugs me. I understand she has a DNR but the thought of her slowly suffocating to death really bothers me. Soon she will be reunited with my grandfather and my mother and get to bask in the glory of God never having to suffer again. I just wish she didn't have to suffer before she gets the final call home. Please forgive me if I ain't online much in the coming weeks. Prayers for our family are always welcome.

@girlsnammo I can sympathize with you. My mother died of bronchiectasis and it got to the point where she could no longer exchange oxygen for carbon dioxide. She spent her last days on nothing but oxygen and some IV medication to keep her calm. No food, water, etc. We virtually had to wait for her heart to stop. So yes I know exactly how you feel. She had struggled so long just to breath; it was so hard to take but we were praying that she be taken to relieve her suffering. It's hard to let them go but much harder to see them continue to suffer. There's a point there is nothing that can be done. I still can't sit here and even type about it without crying. You have my prayers.

Looks like it's going to be one more super hot day out there. I went out to the building and watered the pheasants and the baby peacocks and am drenched in sweat already, and it's cooler in there than it is outside.
I have two customers coming today and it's going to be dreadful catching birds in this heat. Not good for them either.

I'm sorry about your grandmother. Hopefully she won't have to suffer very long but I know that is hard to watch. Having lost my mother to bone cancer I know what it's like to watch someone you love suffer so much & waste away. Prayers coming your way.

Send it my way, Sharol! Not a cloud in the sky right now and the humidity is stifling. It was 65% in the house with the AC running. It's 92 right now and no breeze and it's not noon yet. Not a good sign!!!
