Consolidated Kansas

One could have also laid sitting on the roost not realizing what was going on.
What a hot steamy day it's been. I've been busy all day trying once again to cool down the birds. I got a new wall mount fan today that was just on time. I wasn't prepared to hang it so I just sat it on the floor in the building. I am pretty sure I would have lost some more birds to the heat today if it hadn't have come today. I've been rebuilding old fans that quit bit by bit and putting them in the coops where it's hot. I hate to do that to the electric bill but some of these places are just unbearable.
I got shade cloth hung on the peafowl pen today. I think I have enough to stretch to the new pen when I build it. At least I hope. I take it down in winter so it won't hold a snow load and it's much easier to do if you just have one long piece of it. At least they appreciate it. They were all out standing under it later rather than sitting in the shelter. I still need to add some to a couple more pens but am kind of holding off until I move the roosters this week. I am hoping I can take down some pens then.

Glad it's nothing major @Anderson Lowe . I'm always finding broken eggs so I usually don't think much about it unless a girl isn't acting quite right. It's usually pretty easy to notice.
We had a little rain earlier but I think just enough to wet the surface of the ground and raise the humidity. So far it doesn't feel any cooler out.
I've got company coming today so it's another busy day. I'm hoping to get some work done around here as well as move a few birds.

I brought home 6 Year old Bovan brown hens yesterday. Integration is going well. We are getting 2-3 eggs a day already from the 4 leghorns! Danz, hope it's going well for you.

Well my grandmother passed around 6:30 this morning. My aunt said she went peacefully in her sleep which is a blessing. She no longer suffers. Now I'm planning a trip to Nebraska where she will be laid to rest with my grandfather, mother, and son in our family cemetery in about 3 weeks. Please keep our family in your prayers.
I'm sorry, thoughts & prayers to your family.

Did you mean 6 year old? That's pretty old if that's what you meant, I'm hoping you meant 6 month old.

I've been sick all week with food poisoning & was in bed pretty much for 4 days, it was miserable. We ate at a restaurant Sat. evening & I'm just positive it was from their salad bar. It has not been a pleasant week.

We're getting rain again today & It's really dark here right now. I'm sure the animals & birds are really enjoying the cooler weather though.
