Consolidated Kansas

Well eight was the final count. I haven't bothered her enough yet to see what we have in girls vs boys. I'm a little disappointed because right now they look all white. I was really hoping that some of Marshmallows badger ears would show up in there. I'm happy just the same.

Congrats on the puppies, I hope they all do well & Britt feels better.

Are GP puppies born the color they stay? I know some types of cats and dogs develop color as they mature (like Siamese cats, for instance).

Danz congrats on the pups that awesome news ok so I have a question I have yellow chick with deep green legs sprouting JUST snow white feathers now the other 4 yellow chicks all have pink legs and are sprouting bluff and redish feathers do Im guessing those are all Bluff Orphents but any, thoughts on the white feathers green legs? I tried to get a pic

Also it is ok to use a blue light for the brooder box? The red one puts out too much heat but the blue gives them sunlight 24/7 and i don't know if that will mess them up? Help please thank you

I had to look back at your previous posts. The golden buffs or gold marans might be what you have. Oprs have white legs. They may look light pink to begin with but there would be no reddish feathers. I am guessing the one with the green legs and white feathers is an EE. Does it have a muff?
I've been sitting here for hours trying to shop some more. Not having any luck. Every idea I come up with either isn't in stock or is out of stock. Go figure.
I have someone coming in the morning to estimate fence. Now that I have nearly changed my mind about building a permanent fence and am considering just doing electric fence. I guess I'll see what price he throws out there.

I agree, the bird with green legs is probably an Easter Egger, especially if it has a muff. I will post a pic of some true Ameraucanas so you can see the muffs.

Here is what we mean by muffs. All true Ameraucanas have grey slate colored legs, not green. Danz Marans have slate legs as well, so that wouldn't fit with that either unless it's a mix & I have a feeling it is some kind of mix.

Hmmm that red is the same red the other yellow chicks feathers are but they all have deep pink/red legs only slate legs i believe we have is on the chipmunka chicks and maybe the black Pym Rocks though those are super dark almost black. Also will it cause a problem if their heating light is a blue/white one?

Actually Trish, the Marans have either pink or slate legs. It depends on what color they are. Marans also have white feet and absolutely no yellow on their feet or shanks. Depending on if they are French or not they may have feathering on the legs.

You really need a red in infra red light for the chicks. White light can cause picking. I have no idea what effect a blue light would have.

Welcome to the forum. I'm not sure who but perhaps someone lives near Hays. I think @Prairie Fleur may be out your way but she hasn't posted recently.

I got a fencing estimate this morning and paid a half deposit. I couldn't really afford it but this guy is the one that put in my front fence and he does a great job. He is doing twice the work and providing more materials for about the same cost as the local contractor wanted to just set some posts.
It will be another month maybe before he gets here but at least it will be done before spring.

Thanks Ladies we will just have to wait and see how they develop then and ok thanks Danz I waa afraid of thatso we will simply move the light farther away thanks again you guys are the best!!!

Sorry you're having to pay so out of pocket on the fence hugs
