How old is your white and the India blue you have there? If they are 2014 hatches, since you have an adult male there they should have fertile eggs. If they are 2015 chances are they may lay an egg or two but most likely won't be fertile. If the white is a 2015 it's too early to tell what sex she is. If she is a 2014 she would be female.Hi everyone! Been watching my white pea and I'm starting to wonder is he is a she?!! Can anyone help me out?
I'm so stoked, my silkies are laying, my SS hen, at least one of my Ameraucanas and a BCM (sadly her eggs are too light to consider using her for breeding). I'm getting excited for spring and hatching out babies. Crossing fingers my peahen will think about laying and hatching out some peachicks even tho I know it's not very likely.
Sweet little chick! My Bredas aren't producing and it's driving me nuts. They kept laying when I wasn't hatching and now are on extended breakI thought I would post a couple of pictures of the chicks my Araucana hatched last weekend.
This little one is a Jubilee Orpington (I think). I have 2 Jubilees laying as well as a lavender and a white. The roo is Jubilee.
Yep it looks like a pure jubilee. Standing like a little cockerel. I guess time will tell.
The gray one is Breda Fowl. Feathered feet and a curious expression. The Bredas and the Araucanas were raised in the house, so they are pretty tame. Mom is pretty easy going (except when she is on eggs -- then she is a tiger.)

That would have been in the spring. You went to a dog show I think. I am trying to remember if that was a baby or if it was one that I had kept over winter. I am racking my brain. Do you remember how big it was?@chicken danz the white is one I got from you the last time I met you in Wichita and I can't remember how old she was when I got her. I'm thinking early 2015 hatch but not sure at all. I thought she was the same age as my other two that I got around the same time from @KsKingBee but I'm not sure on that either. The ones from KKB seem quite a bit older than the white in size and appearance.
By the way, I'm really loving the SS I got from you last year. The cockerel is HUGE!!!! But gentle and easy to be around. He will take on the peacocks tho and makes certain they remember the He is the boss of the yard!!! Lol I'm finally finally getting eggs from the hens I got as chicks last year. Even several of my silkies are laying. I'm wanting to get breeding pens set up soon but I'm currently down with a nasty sinus infection so it'll have to be after that.![]()

I love those sussex! I've been hatching gobs of them. Good since I have customers wanting them. I moved a couple of my older hens in with the pullets this week. I've given them three days to make sure they are bred with the currrent roo. I pulled the eggs today so tomorrow I should be able to begin collecting for hatching again. I think I need to keep a few girls back for myself for breeding. They are really popular. And since I've finally got them to be more hearty than the originals they are selling even better than before.
Trust me, I was standing there with a broom in my hand to intervene. They are about the same age still teenagers, and I don't want injured birds. The orps are the reason I got a second coop and run, and if necessary, they flocks will take turns in the yard."Yesterday my Jubilee cockerel and the Breda cockerel got in a stand off over a hen. They raised hackle feathers and jumped at each other a few times with the pullet looking on, then amazingly they both found a bit of food on the ground and backed away from each other. They live in different pens, so their only interaction is when they are in the yard together. It was funny to watch them both back down at the same time. Saving face, I suppose. Winston (the Jubilee) went back to his little flock, and Bert went back to his and all was well."
You're lucky they gave it up. I've had roosters go at it till they drew blood & I was sure they were going to continue till one was dead. I had to separate them to stop it. Usually Orps aren't that aggressive but they are protective of their hens so if one thought another rooster was trying to take over his hen I can see that happening. My Partridge Orp guy thought one time I was threatening his hens & he went after me. He usually isn't that way but something got him stirred up that time.
Yesterday was so pretty out compared to today, it's so grey & it's colder today.
