Hi Wolfrunner. I'm to the north near Hiawatha.

If it snows, it snows. At least it hasn't been anything like it was last year. Out in the hills where I live we had 15-20 foot drifts. We were snowed in 4 times and one of those times was for a week! I Love it here, though.

What kind of chickens do you have?

Glad to find a group of people in Kansas. I presently live in De Soto, KS with my DH 4 dachshunds, 3 red sex-link hens, 1 house cat, 7 cats that adopted us, 6 horses. We own 50 acres 15 minutes west of Ottawa, KS off interstate 35. Everytime I go to our acrage I don't want to go back to the city. But our hopes and dreams will come true spring this year 2011 when we will move to out country paradise. We have sold our house and moving to the good country life. I welcome the piece and quiet of the country and can't wait to make new friends. Hope everyone finds themselves safe with the up and coming snow storm.

Hello Gail:frow I grew up in the country, moved to the city and lived there a number of years. Hubby and I have been back in the country for about 10 years now and we love it. When we moved here we ended up starting over. We have built everything here.

Hope to read more from you.

Omg...... I was born and raised in DeSoto. Small world as we have already found out here. Where bouts you live? I used to live on Hill circle over buy the VFW.

Well i have lost yet another bird this time it was a silkie. She showed no signs of disstress of any sort, but i think she starved to death due to her cross beak.

Now to the main subject. I had a four hour visit with the parents of the kids who shot my birds. It was freindly and none aggresive "WOW THAT WAS TOUGH" but it looks like I have some free labor for sometime now. The parents offered to pay for the birds I refused payment and offered eggs, they ecsepted. Also turns out I knew their parents from the little bar up here. Which made this so much easier. So problem solved with out Jeff Co PD.

Oh, I'm so glad this worked out for you without problems. I hope you can have a positive impact on those boys.

On a bit of a side note, I am a hunter and a hunter education instructor. I grew up with guns and have enjoyed shooting sports all my life. When I hear of kids (or anyone) doing things like this with a gun it really makes me mad. It throws such a bad light on kids their age and on guns and anyone who uses guns. My folks taught me when I was very young first to respect guns and then how to use them. I hope these parents will realize their kids need a little more supervision and teach them a little more ethical behavior.

First off Welcome Gail. We are happy to have you. Just accross the river myself. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Daren; Darin says way to go! You really pulled it out with this one. Maybe they can learn to appriciate chickens if they do a few chores helping to make cages or feed and collect eggs. They probably need a good moral and male figure to help them sort out the rights and wrongs of todays world. Darin thinks you will do a steller job!
