Well, I thought I'd better post a pic of the latest batch of feed so everyone could see it. The feed folks werehaving a fit because I put a pound of garlic into it this time, and that's only one pound per 1100 pounds of feed, but they liked it better when it smelled only of cinnamon and turmeric, I guess...this makes it more like a curry!

It smelled like a good soup mix as it mixed, and then I had them add 5#of molasses to bind it a bit. It really smelled good then!!

I think the next mix will have fewer of the 4 types of peas and more of the Quinoa and smaller grains, peanuts and maybe pumpkin seeds if I can find a cheaper source. This batch was low on the pumpkin seeds.

Already notice a big difference in their poop with this batch's tweaks- anyone who got some from me notice a difference in their birds yet?

I believe I could pour a little milk on that, put it in the microwave for 3 minutes and have nice, hot breakfast

Speaking of HOT-----NOT! We got snow. I don't know how much because a lot of it melted, but there is enough of it left to cover the ground. Just when I was making big plans for my day off. I was going to start getting things cleaned out around the old barn so we could tear it down and start building my new chicken barn...darn, darn darn! I am SO eager to get started. It's going to take this old couple quite a while to get it all done. If I could get my college age boys here for a few days things would go a lot faster, but you know how that is. They are so swamped with classes and working and of course college friends and "stuff."

I wonder how all my chickens are liking this switch from 80 degrees to 30 degrees. I'm not liking it one little bit!

That feed looks a bit pricey. At the current price of scratch Think I will stick with what I got.

We got a bit of snow last night as well, but it melted in five minutes "Thank God" .

Hi, Katy!

They supply nearly everything. I bring the spices, the Quinoa, the Pumpkin Seeds, the fruit, and I bring anything dried laying around that we won't eat anymore. This batch had a big bag of apricots, dates, Montmercy cherries, blueberries and golden raisins, because my family got tired of it all and I shop at Costco, so the bags were huge!!

They let me bring all the extras and just toss in in while it's mixing. They even have the flax and the peanuts, etc. It's great! She would source all the extras for me, but my connections are likely cheaper than what they'd find, because most of it is human grade. I forgot the DE in this batch, though...just noticed...
