Get that picture posted. I think it would be pretty easy to tell. My guess he just has wounds without actually seeing it.
I'm a very unhappy chicken mama. I went out to the brooder and had lost 13 day or two old chicks. I had a light that got broken and left them without any heat during the night. I hate it when things like that happen!

Yeah it hurts my heart to loose little babies. Those chicks are so vulnerable the first couple of weeks. I wish I had a better set up, but with changing weather it is hard to maintain a perfect temperature.

It sounds like your wood structure will probably be adequate for adult birds over the winter. They are pretty hardy if given good shelter.

Danz-Oh, dang! It is heartbreaking when something like that happens. So sorry.

Sorry, he doesn't suffer from lethargy and is very hard to capture on film. After some trickery I was able to observe a similar but smaller wound on my other roo but the only wound in the flock is on a hen and it is obviously a scratch.

An abundance of energy in the birds makes me hopeful they're just scrapping when I'm not around.

It didn't work here either. If the spots are black and not raised and bumpy I would just say they are injuries. Even a tiny peck from another bird can cause that.
I don't feel like working today. I was gone all day yesterday and I am worn out. I just baked a chocolate roll cake. I've just been starved lately and can't seem to find what I am craving.

Our internet has been out for two days. Ugh. And the last week it was ify at best, but they finally came out and fixed it. Not much more going on here with the coop- we've been so busy! Had the ferriar out to do all the horses last night and then we had unexpected company drop by. It was fun, but no chance to do any work. Tonight, my DH has to work late, because he had a dentist appt to make up during the day. Sigh. TOMORROW.... we're going to the Kansas State Fair!!!!!!! Yippee!!!! If you get there before 10am, it's FREEEEEEEEEEEEE. hehe! We do this every year, we haven't missed a fair in years and years. We try to get there at 9am, because I think it was last year or the year before, the people at the gate got a little jumpy and started charging early- like 9:30am! They're not supposed to, but I guess they can do whatever. Then I go again with my son's 2nd grade class for a field trip to the state fair on Wednesday. I am so ready for some Pronto Pups, I can hardly stand it.
