LOL! I'll get some pics, but not tonight. It's pretty dark in the layer coop. I may have to wait until I get them out from under her to get pics. That chunky ole gal has them pretty well covered. You'd never know they were there. I guess while I'm out I might as well check the shop and see if that guinea managed to find his way in again. There's enough room under one of the doors for things to get in and out, but I hope he decided to stay with the rest of them tonight.

Danz- oh so funny about the see thru pink shirt! I can imagine everyone else really thought that was funny! Oh yeah, that is something that would happen to me! I have so many more stories.

You and I must have the same karma following us or something! LOL

Hope you are feeling better! My youngest has been sick, too! She woke up Saturday around 3am and was running a little over 103 temp. Then the rest of the day we fought it. Yesterday afternoon it was 105.6!! I nearly took her to the Dr right then, but I figured I'd give it 30 mins to come down and then decide. Gave her Tylenol and it came down to 101 the rest of the day. She is only running around 99 right now and feels better but is whiney and def not feeling good. My oldest and I are going to church and we're leaving the rest at home.

We got a lot more done on the coop! I promise to post pics today! (after church) Both windows are in, the doors are made for the front. OH- and I said that I already had those doors done? Yeah, no. I messed them up and I had to make new ones yesterday. SIgh. They ended up being too small. Anyway, I'm just going to cut them down a bit and use them for the storage side.. so at least I haven't wasted wood. We bought siding too- but I doubt any of it will get put on today. Going to work on doors today and get them on.

Well phooey! Now that the chicks we hatched from Chooks are a bit more grown up, it sounds like I may have to re-home beautiful Belle! S/he doesn't act particularly roosterly but unforturnately, s/he does like to crow from time to time! What do you all think - is she just gender confused? Or do I have Billy instead of Belle? S/he is one very large black orp I'll admit - already larger than the 2yr old buff orps we have.

Anyone interested in some silkies - sizzles- frizzles? I recently got this small flock and a water emergency took all of the funds for their winter coop. So, they need a new home. The pen they are in will not keep them warm this winter.

1 white hen. Nice top knot. Can't see much.
1 very light splash hen. Nice top knot, can't see much
1 light gray frizzle/sizzle? Bad perm feather do
1 dark gray frizzle/sizzle? Bad perm feather do
1 black roo probably a silkie/cochin cross. Silkie feathers, red pea comb
1 black roo probably a silkie/cochin frizzle cross. feahers are a blue/black with a wild, wind swept look. More normal feathers than silkie. Large red comb and wattles. Big and fiesty.

I do not know much about silkies, but I think the two regular hens are at least a decent quality. The two that are frizzle/sizzle are smaller, and their feathers are shorter, and not as many with the curly feathers. The roos are big and protective of the hens. I have some beautiful frizzle cochins and their feathers are different.

They are about a year old and have laid a few eggs. Some have hatched under my broody banties.

They all go as a flock. If I kept any I would still have the housing problem. They have not been with my other chickens and appear healthy.

My camera has not been uploading to the computer. Am working on that.

I'm with Ivy. I don't even know that much- but it looks like a roo to me. Are those called sickle feathers- the ones that are long and spikey on the back (not the tail-- but the ones that overlap the tail)? Whatever those are called, those sure look like roo feathers!

Nana, that's definitely a Bill...so sorry! He would make a fabulous, gentle protector of any flock around if you put him up for auction- you'll likely get a buyer who will go for him, even for a shipped bird- he looks SOOOOO good. I think he HAS to be split to Lavender- I don't think he was from the time when I was still doing B/B/S, so I doubt he's just Black. I wouldn't swear to it, though. He will get much bigger, as his father was clearly Goliath. Heck, it makes me consider buying him back from you! Let me now if you want to think about that.

On my Avatar, yes, I used the free edit tools at Picnik.com- totally fun stuff!

On the Silkies and mixes, would love to see pics- there are a lot of folks around here who've been wanting Silkies, so you guys need to pipe up and go for them!

Ivy, I hatched my first two Christmas Island X North American Quechua chicks yesterday- SOOOOO glad I have the EcoGlow brooders, because my broody Chantecler wanted to eat them- I will have to let her sit fully and not try to shove any under her.

Ah, goofy things we've done...I've got a ton of stories, because I often move THEN think...and it doesn't work well often!

Renee - I tried to get hold of you the first time he crowed at me. I would make the trip just so you would have him in a good place. He's gorgeous! Heading to Pittsburg, and have plans this coming Tuesday, but I could bring him your way the next Sunday afternoon or Tuesday. If I didn't have neighbors on either side of me, one really grouchy neighbor, I would definitely keep him around. He is a good one!

Let me know if you want him back for your program. I'll be back on line this evening.

*sigh* Yes, I DO want him. When I lost Goliath I just died a little. This guy looks just like he did at that age. I'd love to have him and have just finished a new quarantine facility- no offense, of course...you all know me and my paranoia!! Nothing personal at all.

I'm hatching out a bunch of babies over the nest week or so...perhaps you want some? Or some eggs? We'll talk soon.
