Consolidated Kansas

How cute. I haven't again gotten started. I had a friend who also retired from work, stop by wanting help with some files he was trying to download. So here I am running hours behind again. I have people due to show up in 15 minutes and that means I'll have to get out in the cold to take them to the brooder. It is just bitter out there today. Unbelieveable! I haven't gotten any more packages wrapped either. Seems my days go zipping by and I accomplish nothing.
I still have to drive to my neighbors across the mile to feed their pets while they are gone.

Yeah, not a fan of the cold and I need to get out and put grain in the bins today. So, my DH says my pictures aren't that cute. He said that the apron doesn't look like an apron. He also said that the xmas tree should show up more and that he would rather see a profile pic of my chicken instead. Whew! Really!?!??!?! He's so funny, maybe HE can relate this to the chicken and get him to cooperate for him. Zorro kept trying to leap off the chair and didn't want to look at me. I had to be fast. I zoomed in tight because I had to practically hold on to him while i was trying to get the shots. Silly bird.

What a miserable day to be out right now- hope everyone is warm! I brought Seymore in already, she was shivering.

Just got back from feeding the neighbors animals. Kitty wanted petted but it got a few pats and bowl of food. No way was I standing out there in the cold to pet someone else's animals.
I need to just put everything else aside and work on my chicken clothes. I hate sewing though. Wonder what I could create using hot glue?
You know just glue the outfit to the chicken!

I managed to get paper on one present so far today. Boy I'm just burning trails getting things done.

The people that came had said they wanted 4 chickens and took 6 so that is good. They wanted really young ones although if I were them I might have gone with some a few weeks old because they are going to an ADHD 6 year old. I trust after they invest all the money in feed and equipment that they'll keep a watchful eye. They told me it was the cheapest present they had ever purchased. I sure didn't make any money but I was glad to move the chicks.
Now if I had about 75 baby Seramas sold I could relax for a little while.
I started wrapping again and ran out of boxes the right size. I have some in my storage building but it is too dark and cold to go out there now. It will wait until tomorrow!
I guess tomorrow I should start thinking about cooking and make sure I have everything I need for groceries. I am just sure this small town grocery will close by noon or so on the 24th. I got a load of chicken feed because I knew I would be out in 2-3 days so at least they will eat this weekend. It seems every year I discover something I need when it is too late to get it.

Danz- ha! You are too funny! Yeah, it wasn't that fun out there! I was out emptying bags of grain into the bins and feeding horses. They were sure happy to be put up tonight. My gelding is so hilarious!! He put himself into his own stall, and then shoved his nose between the metal rungs on the top of his sliding gate and shut the door for me!! He basically locked himself in his stall FOR ME!! heheee!! I just had to shove the lock down... now, if only my other horses would pay attention and close their gates for me and put themselves up. They do all go into their own stalls-- they know which is theirs, and they NEVER go into each others stalls. But this gelding of mine, he is so silly, he is always up to some kind of antics. He is the reason I have LOCKS on my gates. Because he uses his lips, tongue and teeth to open about anything. Things you wouldn't think a horse could do-- he can do. He will help me unsaddle too. He'll grab his blanket off, he carries his grooming tools in his teeth, etc. He's so bad.

I bred my mare, and we ended up with him, so from the get go, he was a "pet". Once, I even brought him in the house into the kitchen to show my mom how docile he was (when he was about 5 weeks old) and she had a cow. I broke him myself using Parelli (a really gentle breaking method that Pat Parelli started-- similar to John Lyons, except Parelli is more about eye, body and mind contact without a lot of touch). Garlic (my gelding) will back up away from me with a good look in the eye and a wag of my finger at him. Anyway, I spent a couple of years taking him to clinics and he is super well trained. I can pat myself on the back here... LOL!!

SO no chasing chickens under the coop tonight. That's because I didn't let them out, though. Sigh. I just didn't know if I should or not. It sleeted most of the day, and then actually snowed the rest-- chicken weather??? They are still small, so I feel bad for them. I need to add more chips to their floor. Maybe tomorrow. Not sure how you're going to unload 75 serama chicks-- that's a lot of babies! You could put them in CraigsList?? Just do it when you know you're going to be around. Post here in the Wichita area one, too. People don't mind driving when they are specifically looking for something. Good luck with your wrapping tomorrow! I wrapped the rest of mine tonight, and couldn't find a box for ONE last present. So it'll have to wait until tomorrow, too. BTW-- I think gluing the outfit to a chicken would be a great idea! Give you enough time to get the picture taken before they got it off! And why not "sew" your fabric with hot glue! I think that's totally doable. I bet it will look great, too. Oh, and I had a hair clip, and I tried to put the santa hat on with the clip, but Zorro freaked out when he felt the hat attached to his crest. *bwhahaha* Talk about funny.

Haha, you guys are so funny with the chicken outfits! I don't have any chickens that would hold still long enough for any of that & I don't have time right now to come up with an outfit anyway. I'm so behind it's not funny. We spent the whole afternoon & evening in Wichita & just got home a little bit ago. I couldn't believe this, I had seen this bath exhaust fan on Craigslist & had texted the person about it, the price was really good. They had told me to call before we came, so we did all our other errands first & then called & it was only 7:00 at that point. The lady asked if we wanted to come tomorrow & I told her no that we don't live in Wichita & she said that it was too late to come tonight. What, 7:00 is too late? I could see it if it was 10 or something, but it wasn't. Anyway, I told her to just forget it & hung up. There was no way we were driving back 40+ miles just for a $25 fan, geez. I haven't even started wrapping yet, you all are ahead of me. I've got to get with it tomorrow.

Oh, my. I can't stop laughing. Poor Zorro. Very cute.

Ha! Zorro is soooooo patient!

Congrats on Marshmallow!! That's so exciting!

This is the time of year when time warps are sooooooo bad, and I can't get a thing done and the day is gone....sheeesh!

My phone stopped working right today, so I had to call TMobile to have another sent out. They told me I can go to the local store to get a loaner, too, so I'll do that tomorrow.

I'm tired.

Just kind of browsed threw the last few pages. TNTblake-I will be looking for your pics I've never seen a cinnimon 'teil, I almost baught a white face once from a pet store I worked at, they make great pets if they're raised right and horrible pets if they're not (like the norm. my step-mom has). Danz.- If I were going to get chicks for an ADHD kid I would get them a small bator and hatching eggs, alot of AHDH kids do wonderfully with animals, although 6 is a little young, but hatching is one of the best ways to get their attention (speaking as an ADHA kid, lol). I know my bator and first chick equipment is my favorite christmas present I've ever received and that was 10 years ago.

Rittert, you are probably right but I'm not the parents. NONE of them knew anything about chickens so I guess a few $2 chicks was a fairly safe investment. Like I said I would have sold them the 3-4 week olds at the same price, could have fairly well guaranteed sex and they would have been a lot hardier. At least I had an opportunity to answer some questions for them so they can start out right.
I've lost 5 of the newly hatched Seramas already, I hate that deadly gene of theirs. It's such a lose lose thing. I guess it is a good thing they are prolific little layers or there wouldn't be any Seramas at all.
As if I wasn't weeks behind already, my sister called me about 10PM last night and woke me up. She's been telling my Mom she would decorate her house and put her tree up for her. My mom has trouble understanding things some times and kept insisting my sister was wanting her to go to the garage to dig out the boxes, which she of course couldn't do.
Well yesterday my Mom called her and asked her if she could put her tree up for her. My sister has one of her granddaughters and made her promises about what they would do today, so she asked me to go put Mom and Dad's tree up. I can't say no. It's most likely this is the last Christmas for both of them. But I really don't have time and I have no idea how I am going to handle that heavy box. I will have to somehow get it down and run in and out in the cold to the garage and carry in pieces. And of course they've had it for years so it isn't pre-lit. So much for getting my stuff done today. I was so looking forward to having a day at home to try to get caught up.
I can't even suggest putting up a tabletop tree. My Mom was born during the depression and they never had a Christmas tree. Her first Christmas tree was the first year after she and my Dad got married. So it is pretty vital for her.
Every ounce of me is screaming "NO!" but the good daughter in me is saying yes you will.
My other sister is off work today and she could do it but she is getting ready for company so that leaves me. Ugh!
I started gathering things to dress the chicken last night but haven't gotten any of it put together. It may be tomorrow now before I get that done. About the only chickens I have that will hold still are my big fat CRx and their backs are bare from the roosters. They only hold still because they are too fat to move fast.
I hate starting the day feeling stressed. Tomorrow I swear I am going no where and I am refusing to do anything else.
