Consolidated Kansas

Bama-You might want to consider the pullets they are offering for sale at KSU. They will be near point of lay when you pick them up April 21. I am definitely planning to go. I have 2 sons at KSU and they will be helping with the open house that day. It is also my youngest son's birthday. I'm going to pick up pullets for myself and my sister.

Bama, if you are seriously interested I would offer to bring yours back here for you, if you could pick them up right away after I get back. We would be coming back late on April 21, so if you could pick them up the 22nd I'd be willing to do that. I wouldn't want to keep them any longer because I will also be keeping the ones for my sister, and I'm going to have to hang on to those a little longer and won't have much room for a while.

Chicken update-Hatched another black copper marans tonight while I was at work. Dh found several eggs; wheaten ameraucana, marans and a serama. I should have enough by tomorrow to put another dozen in the incubator.

All of the chicks I've hatched so far are doing well. I've had ZERO problems with pasty-butts this time! I don't know what to attribute that positive change to. I've always had one or two that have developed pasty butts, but so far this year none have.

Tnt, thanks for the prayers. I can't imagine going through something like this.

What's a pasty but? Are the Marans the Cuckoo Marans or are they another color variety? Can you cross breed color varities?

Candace, that is so sad about that family that was hit by the tornado. That is too bad they have no insurance. :( Is there a PO box or mailing address people can send them gift cards? From the looks of the place, they are lucky to have their lives.

Ivy, that's great that your chicks are doing so well! Even though I got the go-ahead from my DH to incubate-- Im still going to wait another month or two. I just don't know what I'd do with everyone! Since we'll be here another year, I think I will finish the run and top. Then use my new dog panels for the silkies to play in during the day and put them up at night in my garage where I now have several kennels. :) I would hate to build another coop I can't take. So, I'm going to make do with temporary things knowing we won't be here.

Preschool day! Going to hang out at my favorite coffee shop and read while the kids are in school. Looking forward to it! :) I always run into friends in there (usually from church) and it's so fun!

I have an address but didn't want to post in open forum, I am sending a care package, so if someone wanted to send something along. I called my son who is in Manhattan and him and his girlfriend are going to hit walmart and a few other places looking for some stuff to send. They will be home this weekend, so then first of next week I am going to send that off.... if someone wanted to send something direct, pm me and I can get them the info.

Thanks Ivywoods! I will talk to my wife and get back with you on them.Do you prepay for them or pay when you pick them up? Also keep me in mind if you have any extra ameraucanas or marans.

Candace, I'm so sorry about your friend. I will be praying for them. Where do these people live? I am so glad that none of them were injured more severely.
