Consolidated Kansas

So great to see names and faces. Of course I know Danz but great to meet everyone -- Sorry it was just too far for me to come since we have been gone so much lately that I have barely gotten my garden in! I am so enjoying this Kansas Group and all the posts! I really didn't realize how many other folks loved chickens/guineas/ducks like I do. We raised several hundred when I was a kid but it wasn't for love it was to eat. We would butcher them and sell them all dressed out. I can still see my Grandma and Mom and us girls all working together out in the yard. After all that work I am surprised I still love the little burgers!

Hope sometime to join you all at a meetup!

Whoa, that is scary! Understandable that you'd miss for that reason! Kind of a big deal. I hope she is feeling okay after getting meds to stop her contractions. I had to have that done on my 1st pregnancy and it made me feel incredibly awful for several days. It was NO fun-- those meds are evil strong.

Yeah she is feeling pretty crappy. She has been sleeping for a long time. Hopefully, she will feel a little better when she wakes up so she can eat some dinner. It was very scary! She sees her dr. tomorrow morning so we will know then if she is going to be on bedrest or able to go back to work.

Hawkeye put my little bronze turkey right into a "zen" state. She's got a way with turkeys! Here's the pic I promised, the light one is the Bourbon Red and dark one I think is a broad-breasted bronze. They are such sweeties!

I sure enjoyed having everyone today. Thank you to all for coming. Roman I'm so sorry you got a migraine, that is just the pits but I do know what those feel like. So not fun. You can come by another time and I'll give you the grand tour for free! Oh right, I didn't actually charge anyone else.

Pikeman, we'll have another one so do not despair. It really was fun talking to "chicken people"! Certainly, if you're in the area give me a call. tntblake, so very sorry to hear about your daughter and am hoping she doesn't have any further complications. We'll look forward to meeting you another time.

TNTBlake-Wow! No fun! Glad they got her contractions stopped.

RVRoman-So sorry about the migraine. I rarely get one of those, but when I do I pretty much down for the count for about 12 hours or so.

Pikeman-Work. It always gets in the way of fun, doesn't it?

THE REST OF YOU: You guys look great! So glad you had a good time. Danz-I can't believe you brought Chopper! Do you haul him in a box? I told my older sis I went down to Checoukan's over Mother's day and hauled a bunch of chickens and picked up a goat buck for my DH. Older sis said, "PLEASE tell me you DIDN'T put a goat in the pretty red jeep!" YUP. We hauled him in the Jeep. In a carrier, of course.

I've been working in the barn, scrounging material to finish the bottoms and sides of my pens. I got 2 more done. I've got enough to finish the 3rd, but I'm running out of steam.

When the rest of you get home be sure to post more pics tonight.

CONSOLIDATED KANSAS ROCKS!

CHOPPER! That's so funny you brought Chopper! You are a bunch of gorgeous women; I'm so sorry I missed it.

Roman, I hope you're feeling better. I used to get what I called three day headaches in my eye. They may have been migraines. Whatever, they were miserable and I know a migraine is just awful.

TNT, I'm glad they got the contractions stopped. I hope there are no further problems.

I didn't do much today. We went to Sheila's Garden today just because we haven't been in a couple of years. There were some great pots there, but I've already planted all the annuals I want to plant and I couldn't bring myself to spend the money right now. We thinned the first planting of beets the other day and have been eating beet greens ever since; I might be getting tired of them soon. Our neighbors were doing to have a little fire out on the deck tonight, but DH and his dad went to pick up our nephew who has a new problem with his car. We hope it's new, anyway. DH can't think of any way it could be related to the water pump replacement. Hopefully he'll be back in time.

DH watered at our bonus garden and did a new edging job while I picked up my niece and we worked on cupcakes. Do they look like little pies?

Karen is now Chopper's new Mommy! I felt really guilty driving home without him. I am sure he will be in loving hands. He had already followed Karen once today so hopefully he will learn that she can spoil him too. I felt like I was cheating him recently since he doesn't get all the attention he was before. He seemed very confused. There were ducks and chickens but no geese and I wasn't right there so he kind of stood and stared trying to figure out where to go. It's so dumb to get so attached to a silly duck. I am sure the kids will give him plenty of attention as well. He really liked Karen's oldest daughter. I could just tell. I am going to miss hearing him make his Mama call when I got out to take care of the geese.
I had a wonderful time. Maybe it is a good thing I live 2 1/2 hours away or I'd want to come haunt every one of you more often.
RVroman I really wish you could have made it. I wanted to see those adorable little boys in person. You know those silly migraines are caused by stress. I can always tell if I'm going to get one and take a couple tylenol before it actually hits and can usually nip it in the bud.
Hawkeye, your kids were jewels. No problems whatsoever.
Karen I love your kids. I wish I had met all of them. You have such an awesome place. I noticed a house for sale near by and was thinking how awesome it would be to buy it and live closer.
It was just great to see you all and finally meet Shotah and Hawkeye in the flesh. And of course get to see Josiechick and Trish again.
Ivy it would have been so great to have you there as well.
Here's a pic when our faces were tired of smiling from all the pictures. A bit blury but funny just the same.

I'm so glad you had such a good time

I sure do wish I could have been there. I toyed with the idea of getting a sub and taking a 'personal day', but there's just too much to do this close to the end of school. Sigh. I can barely fit in time to read the posts. My teaching job was exceptionally challenging this year, and my mom still needs my help frequently, which has left everything else in my life in a mess. My silly chickens and this forum have been such a blessing! I don't often post, but believe me, I do pray about all the difficulties you all share, and you often make me laugh (even if I do stay up too late reading the day's entries!!) I hope I'll be able to meet some of you this summer!!

Also, welcome to all the new folks!! Consolidated Kansas is the best!

Looks like everyone had fun!

I went outside to check on the girls this afternoon. Poppy, one of my two year old birds sounds all phlegmy! I could swear she even sneezed/coughed. Sigh. So, she is not in the large kennel and I am starting her on some duramycin-10 as that is all I have on hand. I will give her that for 3 days and see how she does. I so, need to get the new coop built! Then the girls won't be so crowded at night. I don't know if that is the cause or if she just caught a cold. I will keep you all posted.

Jill you would have fit right in. Maybe we'll all find a spot more central where everyone can come. Let's hope it is a peaceful summer without excessive heat so we can all attend next time.
Oh and Cherwill those cupcakes do look like pies, especially the red ones!
