Coop v2.0 update: I was able to run outside during my lunch break and get all the trim up around the last people door. When I put it in there the **** opening or door looks lopsided! there is a gap at the top right. WTH?!?! I hate trying to hang doors. I will see what I can do with it after work. Sigh.....

Danz- Don't worry too much, a large dog spay can take and hour to an hour and a half under anesthesia if it is complicated. It takes 15-20 minutes for premeds to start working before surgery so it can take several hours from start to finish for a big spay. Some vets only call once the dog is sternal or sitting up from their surgery too which can take a while on a big, sleepy dog! Molly took forever to wake up.

That is a TON of eggs!!!

Trish- Is your lavender orp chick yellow w/ a spot on its back? If so you MUST give it to me with no further questions...

Josie, why yes it is yellow with a spot on it's back & I didn't want a buff Orpington, I wanted lavender ones. By the way your rooster is looking really nice & any time you want to get him is OK with me, I'm keeping the Wheaten roo, so I don't need the blue Wheaten.

Ohhhh!!! You really wanted just lavender right? So you don't want the yellow one with the spot on its back right?? So you might sell it to me along with the blue wheaten roo??

Because it is probably lavender mottled if it bright yellow with a round dark spot on its back and I am working on a lavender mottled orp which is why I hatched a bunch of eggs this spring and didn't get ONE mottled chick to pop out.

They are kind of uncommon but occasionally pop out in lavender breeding because the mottling gene was present in the early introduction of lavender to the orpington. It has been culled out of most flocks but some folks have birds that are both carrying a recessive mottle gene and don't know it until the occasional chick pops out yellow with a dark spot on its back! So if you would be interested I would LOVE to buy the little bugger from you.

It would be a huge help with my project orps. Right now I have a mottled roo growing out to put over a solid lavender girl but that may take a while and a visible mottle would be a huge jump in the right direction!!

Josie, yes I will sell you the little mottled Orp along with the little roo. I'm glad you can use it for your project. I hadn't heard about the mottled orps, but then there are so many projects around it's hard to keep up on all of them. I really don't even try, I just try to keep up with what I'm involved in & what I'm most interested in. Of course I can't guarantee what sex this chick is either, it just hatched.

I hadn't heard about the mottled orps, but then there are so many projects around it's hard to keep up on all of them. I really don't even try, I just try to keep up with what I'm involved in & what I'm most interested in. Of course I can't guarantee what sex this chick is either, it just hatched.

Do post a pic when you get a minute so I can make sure but it sounds like that is exactly what you have is a mottled. Once I get the project looking decent I could gift you some eggs or babies back if you are interested but I bet your lavenders will carry the gene and you may have a little yellow chick pop out now and then. I don't care if its a boy or girl, I just want something that is carrying the mottled lavender gene! SO exciting!

What kind of horses do you have? Do you ride a lot? I have a TWH gelding that I just love to pieces but nobody to ride with and no horse trailer to take him places in.

I no longer have my own horse; had a thoroughbred back in my teens and early twenties. I ride several times a year now on my neighbor's horse.She's wonderful and lets me ride pretty much whenever. He's a big draft/foxtrotter gelding that I just love. I have back issues so don't ride as often as I'd like, but the gaited horses are awesome!!

OK, here comes the pics:

The first one Josie is the little chick I was telling you about, it's not really totally on it's feet yet or fluffed up yet either, but here it is:


You can see the darker spot on it's back, is that what you meant?

Here is the pile of chicks I hatched today, there are 3 out in the brooder that I took out there this morning that were in this bunch too, two Welsummers & one Ameraucana.


They're all piling on top of each other, not too happy for me to have the lid open.

I just love the little lavender Orpingtons, they're cuties! I ended up with 5. One was in a tiny egg, so it's a tiny little thing, but the one in the pic is nice & big.



Here is a pic of my turkeys in their new pen, they don't want me to get too close. Even after all the time I had them in that brooder & talked to them & all they're still scared.



And one of them after they ran into their house when I walked to the end of the pen.



Oh & one more of the odd Welsummer chick with one of the others to show you the contrast of the "normal" one with it.


You can barely see the caramel markings on light one.
