Consolidated Kansas

Thank you HE and Josie! Like I said my old brain is in slow gear today! I had looked up a peacock costume and freaked at the prices for them. We found something at hobby lobby and a dance leotard at dance class. Big sister is going to make the tutu and mask :)

Yes- she insists on being an indigo blue peacock :) I wonder why :)?
I wish I had been home today. I saved all of Pete's feathers because a friend of mine sells all of his and he says they sell like crazy. If you need more I would be so happy to help!! I could have saved you some money. Just let me know if you want more. What are you going to do for the little head piece? You absolutely have to take pictures of this costume!! What a great sister she has. I keep telling you A. is an awesome teenager? Let me know if there is anything you need. So if she is going to be a peacock what is Andy going to be? If you need more feathers I am sure DH at least will be in Topeka this next week.
My favorite costume ever was when my Mom made a chicken costume. I wonder if she had a 6th sense that someday I would be what I am? We had no birds when I was young.
I always made my kids costumes. I loved doing it and they didn't wear those awful cheap plastic things every one else did.

Oh I would love a great pyrenees, I already have 3 dogs though. Oh I hope it finds a good home.
I posted this for Sunflower. I understand the dog doesn't want to stay home and she obviously lives in town.

I have been gone all day. Delivered one of my Eastern Turkey toms to a guy from Scammon to Yates Center. I went to the auction and of course I couldn't just sit there all day doing nothing. I bought a weaning pig. It is a mean little sucker for such a young one though. When I raised pigs years ago the babies were all sweet. I'm going to have to ring his nose and cut him. I will wait till DH has a day off to cut him so he can hold him while I do it. I doubt he's ever seen that done before! City boy! Anyway I just wanted to raise him to butcher. I have been trying to find a pig for months and this one is a little young but at least I can feed him out the way I want him. Aw! Fresh pork in the freezer in a few months!!
I also bit the dust and bought a couple chipmonks. Yep I am certifiable for sure. I keep saying I am getting all the animals out of the house and then I buy these. Now I have to build them a cage and boxes to sleep in etc. They are cute as can be though. I could keep them outside but what's the point if they are pets they should be treated like pets.
Lindsey I am so glad that Lucie is home. You have so much on your plate right now. Be sure to take a little time to rest. Even if it is 20 minutes laying on the couch with your feet up.

Danz, this is the same dog I tried to help her place before & she has been back & forth about giving her up, but the dog is not happy being an indoor dog & she is not happy with all the hair the dog sheds. KarenS, this is the dog I tried to match you up with, she is a beautiful dog. I hope someone who has room for her to run takes her.

I may have a home for her in mind. I would be shooting myself in the foot because I promised these people a pup when I breed again. I wish I could afford another dog. Anyway was this one spayed or not? I think these people are wanting to have one intact but not sure.

If my memory serves me right she is already spayed, a little over a year old.

Oh, what a fun costume! I hope my kiddos want to be cool things for halloween! I would have a field day with a peacock costume. I think my favorite costume as a kid was the year I was a monarch butterfly and I work a black jumpsuit and my mom made me antennae and full cardboard wings with black and orange felt glued on in the wing patterns. It was an awesome costume.

Lady, you are crazy, where are you keeping the pig? I really wanted to raise a pig this year but we didn't get organized. Fresh pork and bacon is soooo much better than store bought. No worries, I am getting my rest. I fell asleep on the bed this afternoon while folding socks. DH was kind enough to come up and take a picture of me sleeping with 6 cats on the bed!

Has she ever been around livestock or chickens? I did a trial with a dog last week before Lucie got hurt and he was marketed as a LGD but he sucked. He wouldn't leave our porch and I never heard him bark once in the almost five days he was here. I sent him back to his owner. I am glad I asked her about doing a trial for me because I would have been stuck with a dog that didn't seem to want to work at all.

Trish- Hope you feel better. I hate being sick and it is so hard to care for the birds when you feel awful and its rainy and cold out!

Well, Miss Lucie is hanging in there. I can't say that I enjoy getting up at 3 AM for her pain meds but other than that she is being a pretty good patient. She must be starting to get itchy because she won't stop licking at the road rash she has and I can't keep an ecollar on her because she keeps getting it off when she is in the crate. So she is wearing a men's thermal shirt and a harness plus her hind end support harness to help her maintain her balance. Phew!

Josie, this dog has been in town & had been a house dog. The lady didn't research the breed before getting her & then got upset that she shed buckets if hair in the house. So no she has not been with animals. I tried to help this lady earlier to re-home her, but now she is getting tickets for her running loose.

I hope everyone is holding tight with all this rain pouring down

It sure puts a stop any fall and winter prep that is going on. I was working on fixing any leaky or drafty areas so hopefully I got enough so that everyone is dry tonight. Glad tomorrow will be dry for the most part. Since my coop is on a slope, which is good in alot of ways, I have alot of water rushing down thru my run, geesh glad they free range all day. Tomorrow I will be raking out the wet straw so it doesnt get nasty, I really hate doing it wish it would be ok and dry out but I am too afraid of it molding,,,

Hey guys! Just had a crazy fun day in the craft room with aunts, cousins, a niece and my DD's. It was a hoot and I am beat! I did catch up reading but am too beat to catch up with everyone.

Danz, you said you were thinking about getting a pig, glad you found one! It'll be worth it in the long run, just extra work now.

Josie, I know this has to be tough when you're feeling so tired. In spite of that, Lucy looks very well taken care of!

I'm off to bed early. I'm absolutely done.
