a while back i got a dominique chick that ended up a roo, so i went back to swap him out and got an older dom "pullet" in exchange. now im suspicious this is a roo again! it took me forever to tell with my other one because they are rosecomb and im no expert so now im not sure about this one. tail feathers are a bit more perky than i would have thought, and he/she is constantly chatting up a storm, is this a usual trait or is this more of a rooster thing? also his/her neck is very arched in a way that makes it look like a roo. i dont know tho so i am going to post a pic - but also, why does it constantly make all kinds of noise?? my rir does too but not nearly as much.

Sometimes hens, especially new ones, will whine and make all kinds of noise. I think they do it because they want something. I know when my hens spill their water, or can't get in the nest because another hen is in it. They call me until I fix them with what they want. They know I always cave for them

Your bird looks like a hen but closer photos of the neck, tail and back would help.

Looks pretty girly to me.

BRs are pretty chatty girls. Mine tattles on everyone in the flock, tells me little chicken stories, asks me what I brought for her, all that nattering.

And hens can have spurs, btw. They're just not as prominent as rooster spurs.

She is a nice looking hen.

Roosters would be a lighter color.

Some hens love to be vocal.
