1) What type of bird , age and weight.

Speckled Sussex, 17 to 18 weeks. Weight?

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

Appears to acting perfectly fine - besides a runny nose and an occasional head shake

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?

It has been approximatly 5 weeks

4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

NO

5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

Nothing that I am aware of. Had mites when I bought him, they have since been treated.

6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

Seems to be eating and drinking normally.

7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

Poop looks normal.

8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

I have done VetRx for 4 days - administered warm down the throat in the nose, and under wings. Have since stopped as it appears to have not made any difference.

9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

Treat myself. I do have Tylan and Tetracyline on hand

11) Describe the housing/bedding in use

He is currently housed in an old wooden rabbit hutch with a hen that I bought him with, that does not show the same symptoms. Has a wire floor.

I am really hoping I can help him, or figure out whats going wrong.

He has no cough and does not have any kind of raspy noise.

I am starting the tetracyline. Anybody have a suggestion on how many days?

My Polish chickens had exactly the same thing their nose were running,a clear mucus, but they were eating, running around and generally seemed fine. I took one to the vet after 3 weeks, he put a sample of her mucus under the microscope and said it is a bacterial infection. They are all on anti biotics now, and he said to keep it up for 10 days, then come back if it continued. Hope this helps and your chicken improves soon.
