Constantly sleeping hen....

I have a 2 month old bantam cochin hen who for the past few days has been chronically sleeping. She is serrated from the big flock and is in with three roos her age. They are on shavings and are kept on my back porch. Not too hot, out of the sun, but we have been having higher heat spells. The weather has been cooler one day hotter the next then back down again...odd....anyways, my question is this, she is perched upright and sleeping all the time. She is rather poofed up too. This is my first run with bantams, and being cochins, she is naturally fluffy...but she does not seem to be eating well or drinking much, although both are supplied. Should I expect a dead hen soon or is this a stage that occurs sometimes as they grow? Last I checked her, last night-I am at work this morning, she has always been upright, but just sleeping. She opens her eyes to acknowledge me or anyone when we walk up, but does not concern herself with us. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry for your loss too. A lot of times, chickens don't show symptoms until the illness is pretty far advanced. I'd be concerned about coccidiosis too. It wouldn't hurt to clean the whole pen. I'm assuming she wasn't sneezing or sporting a bubbly eye or anything prior to her passing or else you'd have mentioned it.
