Constipated Roo? Pics

update- the boy s healing - no more straining to poo, rinsing his bum every evening and puttng nystatin on it, he is getting back to his normal self...

That looks like a fungal infection. Neosporin will do NO good. I would soak in Epsom salt and warm water then apply an anti- fungal cream like lotrimin. Good luck

If it is a yeast infection and not a bacterial infection, Nystatin will only work is it touches *all* the yeast, which could be in *all* of his intestines, so he must be fed the Nystatin. Can you have a vet look at it?

You should also look into buying some proper antibiotics like Baytril and an antifungal like fluconazole or ketoconazole, all can be purchased without a prescription.

Here is a couple more links on Vent Gleet:

Keep him separated from the other birds until he is healed. They will peck at him.
Late to the party here but I first wanted to thank PWAND for the great link to birdhealth. I have dealt a lot in the recent past with vent gleet in some rescued hens. tried every tip I had run across on here prior and won a few battles but never won the "war" and eventually lost or had to end their suffering one at a time. FINALLY I now understand the what's and why's, thank you!!!

It also never dawned on me this could be a roo problem as well, duh.

Also a huge thank you to Casportpony for all the great info! Now I have more great info to add to my "emergency journal" and a couple more things to add to my emergency kit.

Lastly, to Artsyrobin, so sorry your roo is unhappy again. Please keep us posted how he is doing.
