Construct your own feeder

I really like Mikeeeeeeeeee's design addition, but wouldn't the chooks try to roost on it? Is it slippery enough to discourage them?

If you have it against a wall, simply build a small " awning" over it.
If they roost on the awning, it wont matter.

I bought a bucket of kitty litter today that has a hinged snap-on lid. It was Purina. Would make an excellent bucket feeder because it's sturdy enough to cut at the baootm and the lid would protect food and allow roosting. You know they'll *do* it...

I'd like to see more ideas too. When I can save $$$, I will! We have a huge storm approaching just as we're getting over the last snowfall, so the hopper is likely to be useful. Our snowblower is acting up and goes to the snop today, it defied our attempts to correct the problem, so we'll be without that convenience for this winter warning.

I like this feeder design so much that I bought the pipe and fittings to make it, last night. LynneP, I'm in NS as well and anticipating the same storm, so I'm glad I have the materials for an ''indoorsy'' project.
