Constructing bath

I’m going to build a bath area for my girls

I’m wondering how high is to high. I was going to use 4x4 to frame it out. Is that to low?

also going to use peat sand and diatomaceous dirt in it

any suggestions , pointers?

4" tall should be fine, I used to use a small raised garden bed for mine. Expect them to either 1) completely ignore it and bathe somewhere else, to spite you or 2) use the bath but routinely kick everything out until it's empty. Also if there's any way to cover it or roof over it to protect from rain, that'd be optimal, as no one wants a soggy dirt bath.

Nix the DE.
If they have access to ground that is not clay or rock, they will create their own dust bathing areas.
