Loud, unexpected noise might upset them, but they will get used to the noise over time

Well, that answered my questions. They are in a huge brooder that I built, but panic for about 10 seconds when I open the garage door...To answer a couple of questions from EggSighted4life: Yes, it's just daytime noise. On multiple sides of our home, houses are being torn out and new townhouse/apt unit type buildings going in (this work isn't legal at night in the city, thank goodness). My girls are about 2 years old. Thanks for pointing out the possible disease exposure and stress caused by moving them to a temporary home-- good reasons to not do that. I definitely don't want to get rid of them either so... I guess I'll just leave them be, see how it goes and watch for any change in egg production.
Last year we had our entire backyard redone so they are use to a carpenter's hammering, sawing, etc. ...It's just that what's happening now is at a huge scale. Thanks everyone for input on your own noisy environments.I love my girls and will do my best to comfort them when I'm around. I love sitting in their little group and talking to them. My two Andalusian blues like to sit on my shoulder.
