What's the temperature where you are???

I don't mind, go for it! That sounds fun. I'd like to hear what kinds of treats and supplements people give their flocks, too.

I always feel kind of guilty that they get feed pellets and only have empty desert dirt to scratch in 99% of the year with no plants and very few bugs to eat. Every day they get dried grubs and 3 grain scratch and two pecking toys that dispense grower mash, to try to make up for that empty desert. We supplement that with whatever I post here so they also get fresh food, especially vegetables and fruits.

Have the same issue here in the winter. Heads of cabbage, carrots, bok choy, sweet peppers, squash. I try to give them something everyday that is fresh. They do enjoy picking through the horses’ stalls also. Yummy mmmm horse poop!

Haha! I have friends who dump wheelbarrows of dried poop from their horses into their chicken coops. The chickens loooooove scratching through it and once it's broken down makes for a very nice soft ground in their coop, easy to rake.

-19C (-2F) and for once it isn’t snowing…. Likely get a couple degrees colder before starting to warm up for the day. Forecast high today is -4C (25F), and of course snow (yep tis the season).

View of the chooks run (barn light illuminates everything really well with the snow)

Have a wonderful day/afternoon/night everyone!

Right now it is 45 degrees.
Tomorrow it is supposed to be -1.
Now everything is going to turn to ice

That’s a huge drop in temps! Hope everything turned out ok, I use wood shavings on ice at the house and used horse bedding at the barn.
